Oh, dear ones, it is I, Sandwich Daddy, a tender young geisha with a heart full of longing and a soul that craves the comfort of food crafted with love. My journey led me to the Woodfire Bakery in Kelowna, a place that radiates warmth and comfort, much like the gentle embrace of a cherished memory.
As I entered this Germanic haven, my senses were immediately overwhelmed by the rich aromas that filled the air—a symphony of flavors that promised to soothe the very core of my being. And there, nestled within this culinary paradise, I discovered the Cordon Bleu sandwich, a creation so divine it made my heart flutter like the wings of a thousand butterflies. It is, without a doubt, the finest sandy in all the land, a masterpiece of white people soul food that transcends mere sustenance.
Every bite was a dance of flavors, each more tender and delightful than the last. The food here is crafted with such care, such passion, that it leaves one feeling both nourished and cherished. And the value, oh the value! It is as if the gods themselves wished to bestow a gift upon us all.
But let us not forget the one who calls out the orders—a stalwart figure, delightfully bizarre and full of character. His voice, like a beacon, guides us through this sanctuary of comfort, adding a touch of whimsy to an already magical experience.
And as I savored each bite, I couldn’t help but remember the kind old Asian gentleman who passed out atop Coit Tower last year. Just as he was overcome by the journey, I too was nearly overwhelmed by the sheer joy and comfort that the Woodfire Bakery offers.
Five stars, my dear friends, for a place that feeds not just the body, but the soul. The Woodfire Bakery is a sanctuary where the weary traveler can find solace in the warmth of good food and...
Read moreTo the reviewers who dont understand the system at woodfire. I've seen many posts here about not "understanding". Im not sure if your one of those customers that sits on their phone, or tries to "RUSH through" the lineup.
But they are a unique restaurant and the staff TRIES to educate you on the system but your either "too busy" to listen or you just dont care to understand how they work. Not ever restaurant is like Mcdonalds. They explain their system VERY well to everyone that i've encountered. Its really simple and they tell you exactly what to do.
They hand subs out in GROUPS if possible. They do 300-400 of those a day and have a solid system in place, sorry if your too impatient to want to learn it.
They tell you when you order, 7 to 10 minutes for subs to bake in the oven, you are agreeing to their system when you do this. When they call out "Your type of sub you ordered" you bring them your ticket and collect your sub. Very very simple. People who hesitate not knowing if its "their turn" really did not follow instructions and yes, they may have to wait longer to get their food now because they have a lineup they need to take orders for still and like to respect everyone in line. Bring the ticket when they call/Sing and they will direct you. Be Mindful, they pound out ALOT of subs a day and the oven can get backed up and slow down, it happens. The longest i've had to wait for my sub is 12-15minutes which still beats most quality food restaurant times. If you dont want to wait, dont order a sub. They have many many delicious other items that are fresh and made by the time your done paying.
This is a FAST but FRESH food restaurant, if theirs a lineup, expect to move along because they have to serve EVERYONE in the line,...
Read moreWow! How did we not discover this local gem sooner? If you're looking for fresh baked sandwiches with chef-inspired quality food across the entire menu, you gotta try Wood Fire Bakery.
My wife brought home takeout last week and the Torpedo sub and Cordon Bleu sub sandwiches were amazing. Best hot sub sandwiches ever. Well balanced flavours and generous quantity. Reasonable prices (under $15per) for quality sandwiches.
Today, I had to visit the bakery myself. First off, it's no longer a bakery. That was 10 years ago when they pivoted to a sandwich and soup shop. Pretty sure it's all scratch cooking but regardless, it all tastes like home cooked comfort food.
Love the vibe they've created here. Starts with a casual country style kitchen shop. Separate entrance and exit doors with a well planned queue and an "order-at-the-counter"system.
The menu offers plenty of sandwich options. I suggest going early to ensure availability and avoid disappointment. (We're obviously not the first to discover this place and the popular sandwiches usually disappear after the lunch rush).
The servers. If you want to be treated to old school service, you've come to the right place. Friendly, efficient and amusing. Yes, the guys will deliver unique voice over and singing order calls outs that will discreetly lift your day, just when you need it. It's subtle, not tacky. And I appreciated the experience.
This is my new go-to lunch spot and I highly recommend Wood Fire Bakery. Go check it out...
