After enjoying an order from Express last night I thought I'd write a review. Obviously, their reputation for great-tasting, good quality food, a varied menu, prompt delivery times, friendly service, and excellent value is already well recognized by their customers but I will throw a handful of stars their way anyway to reflect my personal experience.
One time when I ordered honey garlic chicken wings Mama or Auntie (? - family run business) read back my order over the phone as salt and pepper wings with honey garlic sauce on the side. It wasn't what I'd said but I didn't quibble. Best decision ever! I always get them like this now, so crispy and delicious and less messy but with all the flavour and then some. I noticed another reviewer said they crave these wings sometimes. Me too. Best wings in Ridge.
Some of my other favourites include the deluxe pizza, the spanakopita, and the Greek salad, of the many things I've tried on the menu. Was impressed with the steak which arrived perfectly medium rare and the sautéed mushrooms which were buttery rich but a huge portion for one person - I ate them for days.
I don't know if it's because I live so close but my food always arrives piping hot which is important to me. I love the reward program and debit at the door. The delivery person is always kind enough to do the button pushing on the tip for me so I can just tap. I'm a senior and take no pleasure in the variety of debit machines out there, especially after a two glass wine appie.
The only thing I would change about Express Pizza is their hours. I love being able to order late at night but I go out to a music jam at The Wolf on Sunday nights that often goes late and the only place left in town to eat is the A&W drive-thru. Back in my young drinking days in Lethbridge, AB there were two restaurants that stayed open late to catch the bar crowd. They were always packed.
I realize Maple Ridge is a small town and the Express family has to rest sometime but I'm a night owl and many times I've wished I could order later than they're open. Overall, I'm so glad they're here and hope they will be for a long time.
Have to add an edit here after trying the butter chicken for the first time last night. It was a gastronomic delight! Without a doubt the best butter chicken to have ever graced my tongue. Creamy, savoury with the most interesting flavour profile and the perfect amount of heat. Move over chicken wings, spanakopita and Greek salad. I have a new...
Read moreAnother update. We spoke to someone else and he said that what happened was not the correct response and things have now been sorted out. The pizza was perfect this time. This is an update. Today, I ordered the souvlaki and the potatoes were not quite done. She said we cook them for a hour, every time.(I mean, maybe they had some cooking when I called because we got the order delivered to our door in under 50 minutes, which is usually good.) I asked what I should do, she said microwave them for one minute. The chicken, as it turns out, was not quite done either, had that lovely not quite cooked chewy texture. So now, I'm having to cook the food that was supposed to be done for me. I hurt my back today, and just moving is agonizing which is why I ordered in the first place. "Oh, just put it in the microwave for o e minute" is a solution to food that was undercooked. Nice. I was a frequent customer until now. This isn't just bad customer service, this is a FOOD SAFE issue. 😠
Tried this little place at my son's insistence and tbh, never got the pizza until today. I keep getting the chicken souvlaki because it is so good. First time, the pilaf was meh, but every meal since, it was delicious. The tzatziki is so good, has a bit of bite from the garlic and the greek roast potatoes are...well, you just have to try it. Customer service on my delivery was amazing; they forgot a tzatziki but rushed right back with it (it wasn't too busy and i live pretty close) and added extra! Tbh, I still haven't tried the pizza because I'm busy chowing down the souvlaki but it looks good. 😁 Thank you so very much. 🤗 Update: The pizza is okay but nothing to write home about, and I noticed that although I never have a problem with the souvlaki or roast potatoes, the rice can be good and sometimes meh. Apparently the calamari was a bit greasy but I hadn't tried it myself. Still love the souvlaki and potatoes...
Read moreThis used to be my go to for the best pizza in Maple Ridge. Unfortunately they will no longer have me as a customer. 6 years i have been ordering from them. The same pizza. Tonight I was charged 32$ for a med 3 topping pizza with 1 topping being cheese. I've always ordered bbq chicken with extra cheese and pineapple on gluten free crust. First pizza came with cheese chicken and pineapple. After I took a bite I realized the toppings were missing. 5$ tip to drive 2 blocks, so total was37$ for a chicken and pineapple pizza... It used to be. I was told that I new pizza would be made and be delivered in 30mins. I asked for receipt and take out menu. When 2nd pizza came driver gave me receipt and menu and1$ as he said I was accidentally overcharged. Wow. After calling other pizza places it would have been cheaper to call them first as the offered more toppings for less$. Second pizza was also just thrown together. No constistancy in distribution of toppings er the pizza. Chicken̈ onions on one slice, pineapple onion on another, mush green pepper on another. Very disappointed with my whole experience and will gladly get my pizza...
