Where do I even begin? Probably one of my worst experiences at a restaurant here in Toronto. I visited this place on a Saturday evening with my family. Just 4 of us. When we walked in around 7:30 PM there was only 1 table that was occupied and the rest were empty which was quite surprising for a Saturday. We sat down and we started ordering and whatever items we were ordering we were told they're unavailable. For example. Chicken rezala, chaanp, nothing was available. How can you not have items available on a Saturday evening? Then we ordered from whatever they said was available. After 10-15 minutes the server comes back saying Mutton Biryani is not available , I mean you didn't tell us that initially when you were telling us about the crazy amount of stuff that was unavailable. Then when we were in the middle of changing our order another server came in and said we can arrange for 1 biryani which apparently was kept for some other customer. I mean that's really absurd. Anyway after all this we ordered a Fish Fry as a starter which I have to admit was tasty but it took close to an hour for it to arrive. Just 2 orders of fish Fry. We could see tables beside us getting their order before us although they came in after. Then we were forced to order chicken Tikka masala as every other chicken item was unavailable. That Tikka massala was just too sweet and typical Tikka masala, nothing special. We also ordered koraishuti r kochuri and aloor dum and there wasn't any koraishuti in the kochuri and neither was the aloo dum a traditional aloo dum, it was like a non bengali aloo curry. The entire process took 2.5 hours, I don't remember the last time I've spent 2.5 overs in a restaurant especially when the restaurant was that dead. A total of 6 tables were occupied throughout the evening. The service is extremely poor. The condiments jar for ketchup that was served with the fish had very little ketchup in it, I mean these are just basic things that a server should be keeping track of when it's not busy. I can always sympathize with servers when it's really busy but it wasn't. They even messed up our bill at the end. Overall we were extremely disappointed and no way the food is authentic bengali. Atleast the ones we tried(forced...

KPIs- All Items are super tasty..(This is rare, as many buffet restaurants that we visit, we find that some items are good while some are not that great. In Mustard Garden all the items in the buffet menu were extremely tasty. This is the uniqueness. All items were exclusive. (This is the restaurant’s honesty. Many competitor dine-outs I have observed, advertises ‘X’ number of items in the buffet menu, but not all are exclusive choices.. This is even with the top tier buffet restraunts .. they count chips, alu bhujiya, pickle etc, when they consider how many items they are serving.. Here MG stood out. They served all exclusive items as a part of their buffet menu. You get the feeling, “je na restaurant ta Thokacche Na( they are not fooling us).. Great hospitality.. You cannot miss that. You will be impressed. I can gurantee , you will never find it . If you are still looking for more, well all of this in so reasonable price..you cannot get all of this in so reasonable price even if you cook in home..
If you are visiting along with your Picky eater little champs, they will enjoy it too.. The owners would always be entertaining them,
IF You do not visit, Its your loss..Honestly.. MG is...
Read moreI am writing this review as I sit in Mustard Garden with my boyfriend and mom as we finish our dinner. This is one of the first restaurants we have been to in a long time in Canada that is doing Bengali food and doing it SUPERBLY! My mom and I are Bengali and my boyfriend is Canadian and while we may have differing palettes, we all agreed the food was fantastic. Please bear in mind that this is a growing business so yes, you may experience some delays in getting your food but trust me, when you do, it is well worth it. We hardly experienced any wait because we pre-ordered a few dishes.
I think the service was spectacular because you can tell every single person here is working hard at making this dream come true. I loved that several servers and the owners came to check on us to see how the food was - it was very refreshing because it seemed they are eager to make the food as delicious as can be. Portion size is nothing to worry about here because you get a good quantity with the price and it means a lot. Many restaurants we typically go to for goat curries for example, charge so much but you get so little meat. Food was seasoned and tasty. The fish fry was excellent and finished with some black salt making it absolute perfection. The pomfret was so scrumptious and covered with just the right amount of fragrant spiced sauce. Fish kobiraji was a true feat - a beautiful piece of fried fish nestled in a delicate lace egg nest. All fried fish were served with kasundi and really hit the spot! We finished off with mutton duck bungalow and Bengali fried rice. All in all, excellent food and three happy bellies!
I hope this quality in food continues because I absolutely will!
Thank you, Mustard Garden, for an...
