Impeccably clean restaurant. The food is excellent and the customer service is friendly and professional. I go there at least every other week for a slice (or two) - depending on how snug my underwear waistbands are becoming.
So why the mediocre review? I will explain:
That fraudulent "open till" method of collecting cash from a sale? They conveniently add the 13% HST (even if they have to pull out the flour-laden calculator from under the counter "seeing as how the cash register is not working properly today" to compute the amount) and then use said calculator to calculate your change? See? They pocket the HST. Our government(s), both federal (5%) and provincial (8%) see none of that money. Hey, I'm no choir boy myself...but if you're going to conduct business with an open till, just charge me the base price for the pizza slice without adding the HST (...which you're going to pocket at the end of the day). That's Number 8 of The Ten, is it not - "Thou shall not steal"?
The "walk-in special ingredients gyp". I'm a recent addict of that Honey Stinger pizza slice. It's rather spartan in terms of number of ingredients but it packs a flavourful punch! Instead of pepperoni...Calabrese soppressata salami slices! And then the pizza is drizzled with this home-made honey/hot pepper oil. (I'll include a picture of the addictive stuff.) It is delicious!
So...I thought of ordering a pizza, a walk-in special, with precisely the same ingredients. It ended up sort of tasting the same...but man oh man did they ever skimp on the ingredients! Some slices had no salami on them at all! How come the individual slices taste so good? 'Cause they're almost five bucks each! (See that picture below of that mouth-watering Plain Jane pepperoni sliceI had today? See how much pepperoni they put on it? Do you get that many with a walk-in special?) And that large, with a gazillion smaller slices in it, is like eighteen bucks. (Plus the open till 13% surcharge when you pay with cash because that 'durned cash register is acting up again!)
" 'Cause it's all about money - ain't a d@mn thing funny! You got to have a con in this land of...
Read moreHorrible customer service…period! On April 27th I ordered a pepperoni party size pizza for my son’s going away party. We had lots of food on hand but last minute I thought why not get a pizza for the little kiddos to enjoy. (I always order pizza easy on the sauce and well done…taste of the pizza goes up a notch imo.) When I went to pickup and the lady showed me how it looked I thought it looked good but to my disappointment when I served it at home the bottom was burnt to a crisp! There was nothing to do about it right then and there because we were hosting a party. So later that evening my wife made a call to customer service to complain about what had happened and the representative was very apologetic and offered us a $20 credit on our account…fast forward to today (Father’s Day) I had a craving for some pizza so I was about to order online but remembered that in order to access the credit the order had to be placed over the phone. When I told the representative that I had a $20 credit on my account he said that there was no credit showing! After 20 minutes of back and forth reiterated explanations it was obvious that there was no point in continuing. Oh well that’s the way the burnt pizza crumbles! Needless to say I’ve deleted the app and account and will not be returning to Pizza Nova and for the record this has nothing to do with the $20 credit but everything to do with poor...
Read moreLived in Milton my whole life always loved this place until I went for a slice and they burnt it. Not well done, rock hard burnt. I’ve worked at many pizza places, making/cooking/cutting them, doing the dishes, driving. I understand there’s lots to do sometimes but NEVER have we let a SLICE BURN and ignore the customer when they ask about it. Because of my pizza experience I was SO close to hopping over the counter and getting it myself… but wanted to see the look on the guys face when he realized what I was telling him, to take my slice out cuz it was burning. It was worth it, maybe he left bad, but that’s why you don’t go on your phone in front of customers either. You could easily smell it burning, and other customers in the store wondered what was going on. Easily could have been a fire if they just forget pizzas in a 400F oven… also They didn’t have those gourmet slices left even though I paid for them.. all they did was compensate me a $1 dip. Will not be going back to this location, told my friends about it and they said they stopped going to this place too after getting food poisoning. Absolutely crazy how the old hot spot for slices turned into an overpriced dump dive. The people working there seem very miserable, give them a raise maybe they’ll care to do...
