COBS Bread — Restaurant in Mississauga

For some reason stepping into a bakery at the corner of a Winners strip mall beside a Henry's seemed to putting to me. Today I went inside and boy was I wrong!

The smell wafting outside from this store was so warm and welcoming we couldn't resist! Instantly you are greated with free sample and the smell of fresh baked bread.

The was a constant crowd turnover with a number of staff able to handle the customer with time and ease. After spending a good 10 minutes trying what to get (everything looked so good - we needed one of everything), we grabbed a few of the pizzas, a chive and garlic twist, and a sweet scone treat.

We warmed the pizzas and the twist for just a few minutes in the oven and home and it was perfect. It wasn't the best pizza I have had from a bakery, but it wasn't bad. The scone? YUM. Not dry like most scones can be.

I first tasted some baked goodies from Cobbs when my brother brought some home one weekend. He lives downtown and there is a location right outside his condo! The goodies he brought home barely lasted a day and I knew I wanted to check out the nearest location to me when I had the chance.

On my way home from work in Oakville, I arrived at the Heartland location about an hour before closing hoping to get some buns or rolls to make my husband’s lunch for the week and to my surprise there were still plenty of options to choose from that were baked fresh today (Apr 23) the girl who cashed me out was super sweet and friendly and she even gifted me a chocolate croissant on the house! A welcomed gesture that I really appreciate! The store is warm, inviting and smells absolutely delicious! The options are great and it’s amazing that everything is baked daily. Really good olive bread but we found the bagels a little inconsistent from day to day.

For instance, we picked up our pre-order Christmas eve and I just picked up six sesame seed bagels on a whim. They were delicious...lighter than usual, well sized and well shaped. Even our teen-aged kids noticed how good they were.

I went back after Xmas to get more but they were smaller, mis-shapen and not a light. I had specifically asked for their sesame bagels but perhaps I picked up the wrong kind of sesame bagels???

Anyway, we really like their olive bread so I'll be giving the bagels...
