Something’s gone wrong in the kitchen. We’ve attended this restaurant occasionally for over 20 yrs. There’s been a steady decline in the food. I ordered the Shepherd’s Pie, which is generally a safe bet. The dish was easily 85% mashed potatoes that went straight to the bottom of almost the entire dish. The rest of the ingredients were added in a ring around the outer edge like a gravy. I’m not over exaggerating by stating I don’t think there was a full tablespoon of ground beef included, more like a gravy with small bits of vegetables. Several weeks ago I attended and ordered Guiness Stew. More like Guiness Gravy - virtually NO meat present. I’m not exaggerating, I’m a fair person and have eaten in many types of restaurants in this world - very expensive to roadside greasepit. If you can’t run a proper kitchen, then close it down. It’s the beer that pays the rent anyhow. And I know very well they’re aware of these recurrent issues because I personally have reported them to management. I’ve addrd a picture of what I was served, after the huge volume of mashed potatoes was scooped out. As you can see, the rest of what I was served barely covered the bottom of the dish. *****RE OWNER RESPONSE***** In fact I absolutely DID bring my server directly to our table and showed her EXACTLY what I was served…nothing was done about it. Furthermore, our ginger ale was flat and tasted awful…that was promptly returned. Use bottles or cans, they’ll taste right. Also, my wife had hardly any fries served to her - JUST LIKE LAST TIME. She even told our server about that WHILE WE ORDERED. Your comment about closing and putting 20 ppl out of work is sarcastic and unhelpful; you SHOULD be listening to your multiple reviewer complaints. This experience is NOT an accident in the kitchen, it’s happened MULTIPLE times to us over time and it’s happened to MULTIPLE clients. If your selling Shepherd’s Pie, the entire dish should be filled with meat and vegetables with a TOPPING of potatoes. This kitchen and the food it serves is a Martian Landscape Vs. it’s food 20 yrs ago. Keep serving like this and YOU will put 20 ppl out of work.

Disclaimer: This is a drinks review only, and won't cover food until otherwise updated. Located in the heart of The Village in the City, this Irish pub is a special gem in the community, offering pub food and hearty bevvies that fit to adapt to each season. The drinks were well poured and averagely priced, with no frills. And I think "no frills" is the theme for Cuchulainn's. The service left much to be desired -- it was not warm or welcoming, but they were pretty quick and fairly attentive. The decor was no frills either, but pretty historic and "cozy". No coasters for the drinks, or table favors but it's a good place to chat or bring someone out for drinks with minimal distractions. The music was a low hum, the lighting was soft with candlelit accents, and there were barely any televisions in sight. Great for being in the moment. I would recommend checking out this spot any time of the week -- even a Friday night was pretty empty.

Our experience was certifiably terrible. Our server seemed like it was her first day, she didn’t know much of anything. The wings and Brie tasted good. But my lamb burger was absolutely charred and the server never came back to ask how everything was. Apps and main came at the same time (I guess I should’ve specified??). We had to ask for our server to be sent over and she said the burger would be remade. We waited for over half hour and then asked for the bill. Still waiting on the burger as I write this review. They also have Prosecco on the menu but served Pelee Island sparkling wine lol. Also every server says “it’s so busy” as if that’s an excuse for the poor service. It’s Saturday night, I would hope a restaurant would be busy???? Not sure what’s going on here but definitely do not recommend.

This is a response to previous reviews on a specific incident. To owner, management has lied on response back. We were not rude or bullied server. Dissatisfaction was expressed to server when Stew only had 2 pieces of beef, her response was it was made yesterday. No one would be okay with that... No one yelled at manager while she was cleaning up puke from a child because she was in the kitchen as we left. So that accusation is false. We never said that we would not pay our bill. There was 18% gratuity added and we said where not giving that much. Tips are a reflection of service! Manager handled the whole situation poorly. She came out of the kitchen guns blazing disrupting the whole restaurant accusing us of not wanting to pay. What she should have done is calmly and professionally come to our table and ask us what the issue is... instead she came screaming in front of my family and children. Food was not brought out in timely manner, one person got their wings and that specific dish wasn't hot... we never said all the food was cold, but if manager was professional she would have talked to us and not just assume. Yes a child was sick and didn't make it to the bathroom. I immediately went to the first staff I saw and apologized and told them what happen... Manager yells to the whole place how our child puked... you made a 5 yr old feel embarrassed from announcing it to whole restaurant out of anger. He cried on the car ride home. I do apologize for the broken glass, my husband moved the table as we were leaving and it fell. Because of what all just happened we didn't know how to let your staff know. Over all it was a horrible display from manager, you were short staffed and it showed. We didn't complain or say anything to our server till the Stew situation. She may have felt our dissatisfaction but you are in the service industry and not need to take it personally and fix the wrong or acknowledge it and try better. I am expecting a response where there will be no ownership or apology from manager and possibly more false accusations so she can justify her aggressive outburst. It was my father's 80th. Thank you for the...

I was at the pub on Canada Day for the karaoke night. I went in by myself to get a table first because friends were not there yet. I waited outside for a bit and no one helped me so I decided to walk into the establishment. A guy who appears to work there tapped my on my shoulder and said in the exact words “hey you can’t come in here”. I was extremely shocked and asked why. He said “you’re not 19 and it’s 19+ tonight”. I was extremely angry at that point as I am way over the age of 19! He could’ve just asked for a piece of ID rather than flat out denying me of entry! I told him I am in my 30s! He proceeded to say “oh you can go in” and tried to shake my hand to make peace with the situation and I felt extremely uncomfortable because I felt so insulted by what he had said to me. Not only that he added on to congratulate me on my appearance which was just full on creepy and gross. If it wasn’t for my friends wanting to be there for karaoke, I would’ve immediately left the establishment and would never come back. We come here quite often for the karaoke Saturdays.

I went in and sat down, a server came to me with menus so I asked whether the guy stationed outside was a host or another server. It turns out this guy standing outside “greeting” people is the owner of the establishment! I absolutely can’t believe the owner will flat out refuse entry to customers just because of the way someone looks! Beware if you appear to look much younger than your age, you will be refused entry, period.

All of this could’ve been avoided had the owner just politely asked to see my ID! As a 30+ year old woman, I would be more than delighted to show you a piece of ID to proof my age.

If I can give this establishment a 0 star, I would absolutely do that based on just the way I was treated. The food here is very mediocre and nothing special at all. The only thing that I thought tasted decent is the Irish chips which they ran out of...
