Very basic ambience, but the food...! This place is as affordable as a truck stop, yet the food is as good as you would get in a high-end restaurante. Your meal will likely cost about $20 per person, including your drink. So, it seems they have to discount their prices, and call themselves a bistro, solely because of the unfortunate location.
This bistro is often frequented by local contractors, who pay the hospital's nasty parking fee just to get access to the excellent food. The contractors seem far more able to eat all they get, versus the many old people who are mostly killing time while visiting doctors.
The service is fast, friendly and always happy, as if the staff have a secret source of sunshine. Basically these guys are a bit over-qualified to be in this location, so if you run a business nearby, and you are looking for 3 or 4-star event-catering... Heck, maybe just head-hunt the entire team (3-ladies), and start your own danged restaurante.
The cooking-style is Caribbean, but never hot-spicy. There are plenty of Trinidadian cake slices, Costa Rican layer cakes, and a chopped-chicken flavouring that is almost as good as the world's best (Chicken Rita's in Barbados). There are a range of teas and coffees, not as much as Starbucks of course, but of equivalent quality -- which is another surprise. Their speciality is a range of all-day breakfasts (3-pancakes, bacon, sausage, etc), but this much food may require you to ask for a doggybag container. The pancakes last a day in the fridge, but after that, you are definately on your own.
I just wish this place was not located in the back-lobby of a butt-ugly, worn-out medical building. I'd also like this bistro to have a drive-thru, perhaps in the (secretly free) staff parking/dumpster lot behind the building, upon which the bistro's giant windows overlook. Sorry, I am better at critique than praise, but despite their ugly location, the great food is definately worth the...

I’ve been going to 2300 Eglinton Avenue West for medical check-ups since 2017, and would you believe I only noticed the little bistro on the ground floor today? What a surprise!
I walked in expecting a basic coffee counter—and I was completely wrong. It’s a full-on bistro tucked inside a medical building! The vibe totally caught me off guard (in the best way).
AMBIANCE: From the moment I stepped inside, it felt like I was somewhere else. • The photos of the food are vibrant, the menu board is bright and inviting, and the overall layout feels modern and classy. • It’s spotlessly clean, with warm tones that create a relaxed, welcoming vibe. • Bonus: The space is wheelchair accessible, making it easy for everyone to enjoy.
FOOD: • I was honestly impressed by the variety of meals, desserts, and teas. • It’s not your average “grab-and-go” cafe—this place has thoughtful options that cater to different cravings.
SERVICE: • The service is what truly makes this place special. • The staff are attentive, pleasant, and make you feel at home—something I didn’t expect in a building full of clinics! • Everyone greeted me with a genuine smile and took the time to make sure I was comfortable.
OVERALL: If you’re ever in the building—or even just nearby—do yourself a favor and check out Doris Bistro & Cafe. It’s a refreshing surprise, especially after a long appointment or while waiting for someone.
I can’t believe I missed this gem all these years!

Read moreMy Mom and I came here for a breakfast after her doctor's appointment about three months ago. We treated ourselves to the vegetable omelettes and they were one of the best we have ever had. They are loaded with fresh vegetables and are freshly made. Their coffee is like drinking a hug. Today, we were craving their delicious omelettes, and even though there were no doctor's appointments (the Bistro is located in the medical professional building), we went to this Bistro just for a special Mom and Daughter breakfast. Doris and her team are so friendly and attentive. We didn't take the toast with the omelettes, and Doris was so kind to offer us a sweet treat as a replacement, but we had to decline. The place is immaculate and bright, we will be going back for sure, and we will try her...
