If you check my profile, my review history is low but I feel compelled to share my experience of Victoria Elite Spa. We just ended a tour of Eastern Canada on a coach and a massage was much needed.
I paid $60 CAD for a 45 Minute massage (a few minutes of which was for the therapist to get hot towels) - the front desk host was welcoming, professional and was able to clearly communicate what would be included in a full body massage - Head to feet including arms one would think? Think again…
I didn’t bother to ask the therapist’s name because when she first walked into the room, she headed directly for my back with no hello or questions about allergies or pressure - little interest of providing a service from the way she was somewhat kneading my body.
There was no deep tissue technique and no intention of ensuring an equal massage on both sides of the body - it seemed that the therapist had forgotten what she’d done on the left so did whatever on the right or she didn’t want to be at work and couldn’t be bothered.
You get the point - the massage lacked professionalism, skill and therapeutic quality.
The massage ended and I had to ask her to massage my arms because apparently that’s not part of the full body - she reluctantly pulled them forward and backwards one side at a time (a total of 45 seconds at most).
She walked out without any instructions to get up slowly or whatever else a therapist may usually say. I usually take a few moments to get up but I stood right away because I wanted to get out of there. Thankfully, I managed to put my clothes on before she walked back in WITHOUT knocking and started to change the table linen. As I put my jacket on in disbelief trying to be polite and smile, the therapist said “TIPS” I thought I misheard so I said “excuse me?” She repeated just the word TIPS. I would have happily tipped had I received the service I paid for. She didn’t like my response and needless to say, I didn’t like her version of a “45 minute full body deep tissue massage”.
The front desk hostess was apologetic and disappointed herself that I didn’t have a great experience - I found her empathy...
Read moreThe service at this massage shop was utterly disappointing. Despite explicitly requesting experienced therapists during the booking, I was assigned someone who openly admitted to being a “newbie.” To make matters worse, the therapist’s poor skills were overshadowed by unprofessional and inappropriate remarks throughout the session.
What stood out most was the blatant bias against Chinese customers. The therapist commented that “foreigners tip more generously, while Chinese people give less” and even claimed that “Chinese people don’t know how to enjoy life.” Such remarks are not only discriminatory but deeply disrespectful, making it clear that Chinese customers are not valued here. For a business catering to a diverse clientele, this attitude is entirely unacceptable.
To add insult to injury, the therapist suggested I should “get an RMT license” to rent it out and make money. This irrelevant and unprofessional comment only emphasized the lack of seriousness and respect in their service. Moreover, the therapist bragged about how the shop has been in business for years and doesn’t lack customers. However, with this kind of service and attitude, it’s hard to imagine that the shop can retain loyal customers for much longer.
Overall, the experience was a complete letdown, with poor service, unskilled techniques, and offensive attitudes toward customers. If this shop doesn’t improve its service quality and professionalism, its reputation—and customer base—will...
