Pho Mi 99 use to be my spot, but as of today it will not be.
I went today and decided to purchase shrimp that I have not purchased in years as I saw that it was still on the menu and there was a picture in the menu of what it looked like (see image- this is not the image taken directly from the menu, but the closest image that I can find of what was shown in the menu). I got home just to see that I got breaded shrimp. I contacted Pho Mi 99 and told them what I ordered and how I received breaded chicken. The guy who answered said that the picture in the menu is inaccurate as it was about 10 years old and that they no longer serve the shrimp with the head. I understood and that was fine, except for the fact that I received breaded shrimp.
The guy gave the phone to the owner, and I explained to her how I received breaded shrimp. She told me that what I got was seasoned shrimp with onions and garlic, and that they no longer service the shrimp with the head. Once again I said I am fine with it not having the head, but I did not want breaded shrimp. She told me that next time I should tell them that I do not want garlic and onion seasoned on my food and that I should ask them next time about the food before ordering. I said to her "So what you're saying is that the images in the menu and some of the descriptions are inaccurate. And that every-time I order I need to ask if the menu is correct." In which she responded with "sorry, if it had been her who had taken my order she would have told me and that next time I should ask." She then said "so is everything ok now". I said no as I do not like breaded shrimp so I would not be eating it.
She then handed the phone to the guy again. He asked me if everything was resolved, I said no and that I am unsure as to why she handed the phone back to you. I told him that I was not expecting breaded shrimp, he said ya sorry thats our bad. But next time you can tell us that you do not want the onion and garlic on your shrimp. I asked if there was anything they could do as I can not eat this. I was told that I could order something else... and pay for it.
Like why would I do that. All I wanted was them to take back the shrimp I ordered and replaced it with anything that was not breaded shrimp. Anyways, I tried the breaded Shrimp and it tastes like oil. Its just crazy to me that they would not try to rectify the situation, especially after admitting several times that it was their mistake.
I use to come here all the time and started coming back about a month ago. But after today, I will no longer be a customer.
See the image below for what I ordered...
Read moreVery fresh and delicious food! I had the Meat and Seafood Thai Fried Rice, which was excellent. The portion was very large, so I had a full leftover meal for the next day. Also had both the pork and shrimp fresh rolls and they were also very good. The others in my party also enjoyed their meals, which were all very generous, fresh-looking and nicely presented. Other observations: Initial welcoming was prompt and friendly and complimentary tea was provided immediately, but not water. I suggest both should be provided immediately. The setup is that customers complete the table order using a small order form, which is very efficient. 👍 The menu has a very large variety of food options (Thai, Vietnamese, etc.) at very reasonable prices, with most entree items under $20. The food came very quickly. Three nice young men run the front of the house very efficiently. However, despite it not being very busy when I went, it was a little hard to get their attention after they dropped off the food because they are very focused on the next task. As a result, we had to wait for small plates to eat the appetizers (which is very frustrating when they look delicious and you're super-hungry🤣). I suggest they aim to bring the appetizer plates before the food arrives so customers don't have to request them. Also, I suggest they could scan the room and check back a little more often to see if anything else is needed. Oddly, when we arrived, we only got 4 menus even though there were 5 of us, so we had to ask for another menu. Then we had to ask for a 5th teacup...we were wondering which one of us was invisible...😂 Overall, a pleasant restaurant with a nice decor, friendly staff and excellent food at a good price. I will...
Read moreI recently visited this pho restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired.
The broth, which should be the soul of any pho, has become noticeably bland compared to past visits. It lacked depth and the comforting richness that defines authentic pho.
I ordered the plain pho noodle soup, which doesn’t even include meat, yet it was the same price as the meat options. When I asked about it, I was told it’s because they give more noodles. But when my large order arrived, the portion was smaller than a medium size anywhere else.
I’m not new to pho—I’ve had it in many other places—so I was shocked at how little there was. The owner eventually brought me more noodles after seeing my complaint, but honestly, that felt like they were just fixing it because I spoke up. If I had said nothing, I doubt they would have.
The vermicelli dish was equally underwhelming. It tasted like plain noodles with only a trace of sauce, offering little flavor or satisfaction. The shredded pork that came with it was such a tiny, almost “baby-sized” portion that it felt like an afterthought. I only finished it because I did not want to waste my money.
To make matters worse, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy, the tables were dirty and sticky. The hoisin and sriracha bottles had dried sauce around the tops and felt sticky to the touch. Basic cleanliness like this should be a priority, especially when staff clearly had time to tidy up.
Just recently I visited another pho restaurant, and it was nothing like this—the experience there was far better in every way. Unfortunately, I see no reason to come...
