A few weeks ago I bought some sweets (mithai) from Shirin Mahal's Brampton location on Mississauga Rd. Sorry to say, I wanted to leave this feedback earlier but waited that they might improve on their quality. The immertee which I bought was like either several days old or they do not know how to make immertee. We all have come from Pakistan and we all have tasted the mithai in Pakistan. The immertee I bought, I bought for someone and when I went to that place and those people opened that up in a plate to serve, it was like I was eating a horrible rubber or a soft plastic. I wanted to know from Shirin Mahal's management that what do they think when they are just ripping off people in the name of Pakistani mithai. Their prices are almost close to double from every other place which are even better than them. They opened up a restaurant 'Eat More' which they had to close because there was no quality of food, the focus was just the price and to grab more money than the market. Their brampton location (Mississauga Rd) has been closed recently I think, because I do not see the name there any more when i was passing by a few days ago, whenever i went to that location, I did not find any customer other than me. One aaloo patty they sell for almost $2. Are you guys serious? Few weeks ago, I decided I would never to Shirin Mahal any more because they just think they are the best when they are actually not, and they are just out their to grab unreasonable money from out pockets. Guys, reduce your prices and improve the quality of your sweet/mithai, otherwise nature's response is obvious and automatic. Even your chola curry in halwa puree nashta at your Eglinton branch is not at all fresh. I got my stomach upset twice (even vomitted once) after eating your chola curry and then I stopped coming to your place for...
Read moreThere's a perfectly good reason for me giving Shirin Mahal a 1 star. If possible, I'd give them zero. Zilch. Nada. Big fat doughnut!!! Here's why...
Shirin Mahal used to offer a good selection of sweets and baked goodies. Absolutely craved their patties, khatais and mithai until about 2 years ago.
The last time I purchased mithai to bring to a friend's place, I also picked up a little extra for myself. When I tasted the "gulab jaman" (at home) it had an awful taste because it was made from burnt milk.
It was quite shocking to me that Shirin Mahal would sell burnt mithai and put its reputation on the line just for a few bucks. I AM ABSOLUTELY SURE THEY KNEW THEY WERE SELLING BURNT MITHAI BECAUSE THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAD BEEN SOLD BURNT MITHAI (a few months ago it was burnt "russ gula") I have to say they're doing it on purpose and taking advantage of unsuspecting customers.
Needless to say that I have neither returned, nor do I plan on returning to Shirin Mahal since eating their BURNT MITHAI.
Until these issues of burnt mithai, I was willing to overlook the many other negative aspects and continued giving them business. Now that the food has left such a bad taste in my mouth, I can no longer ignore their poor customer service; rude and unfriendly staff; inconvenient location in the middle of industrial neighbourhood; and premium prices!
That's right they charge premium prices for below-average and BURNT mithai. Their samosas are among the most expensive in town at $0.75/ea and are worst than every other samosa you've ever had. Even Walmart probably sells better samosas than Shirin Mahal.
In short, stay away from this place because it's expensive and definitely on...
Read morePositive: Clean store. Nice to talk customer service. They have a big variety of sweets etc. Cake and pastries are good if you get the same day production. Halwa Puri is also OK. Gaajer halwa is also good.
Negative: Price wise a little expensive. Everyone has his own defination of good sweets. I tried many times their sweets but other than Gulab Jama non of the sweets are good. Their sweets are heavy on my stomach and cause sour burps. I have tried some other sweet shops' sweets and they are much better on taste, price and ease on stomach points. This is their main location where they do the production and distribute to their other locations. General expectation is that you will get fresh products especially when you request for. I visited this location to buy the fresh pastries for which I traveled about 80KM that I mentioned to the associate as well. I requested the associate to give me the fresh one from today's production but when I came home opened the box all of them where dry and there was smell and taste of old pastries. These were at least 2-3 days old. Further ice found that out of 10 pastries 4 had burned black color cake sponge. I tried their Panjeeri first time. The taste was OK but this was very much over filled with coconut (less taste of Panjeeri and more taste...
