CHANG & HUANG THAI RESTAURANT - Friday May 18, 2018 - Dinner
Visited for early dinner Friday afternoon after reading reviews. The restaurant was empty save one gentleman. The lone waitress who seated us was very aloof, from the moment we sat down to the moment we left. She displayed a coldness, and was unable or unwilling to assist with menu items in any way other than to say "We don't have peanut sauce. We have peanut butter" when asked about satay that I had planned to order.
Food ordered: (1) Green Curry with Fish (2) Lemongrass Chicken
Both came with traditional white rice. However, both dishes were simply drowning in watery liquid. Flavors were not bad. Fish was the best flavored of the two dishes. The fish was deep fried & breaded (unusual - not traditional); gravy for both was simply a soupy-cornstarchy liquid - YUK !!! In no way did my dish resemble that wonderful, thick & rich green curry one expects (and that I have even made sucesfully myself, being a non-Asian); it was more like watered-down pea-green soup with bamboo shoots. (The bamboo shoots were good) Service was just terrible. While she did provide the required service, this lone waitress did not even crack a smile throughout our visit, although I did smile & attempt to be conversational with her. It was as if we were disturbing her busy day. In fact, almost immediately after we ordered, when I went up to the cash to make a change, she was seated crouched down on a stool or very low chair behind the desk so no one could see her. I thought she had gone into the kitchen, so I was surprised to see her seated there. Zero social skills!!! Better to be in another type of business than to be a server. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but it did not come across well. I'll acknowledge that I did change my menu item with no problems. Overall, I could not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Bad service is bad for business. Food was under-average.
Later during our visit, a very conversational individual came out to speak to the lone gentleman, who had recently been joined by someone else. He assisted them with what they ordered, making recommendations from the menu. I tried but could not get his attention. Perhaps I should have tried harder. I felt sad that we did not get this person as our server. Oh well, whatever....

Read moreI visited here with the expectation of receiving the same level of respect and service as any other customer. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory due to what appeared to be systemic discrimination.
From the moment I entered, I noticed I was treated differently compared to other customers. Based on my outcome, she (her name is Avini) dismissed to treat as normal customer service, slow to respond to my requests, and I observed that others received quicker and more attentive service.
As a paying customer, I believe that all individuals deserve to be treated with respect, dignity, and equality. Unfortunately, this was not the case during my visit. The treatment I received left me feeling unwelcome and undervalued.
Systemic discrimination is an issue that affects not just individuals but the reputation and integrity of establishments. I urge the Restaurant Management to reflect on this feedback and implement proper diversity and inclusion training for their staff. Creating an environment where all customers feel valued and respected should be a priority.
I hope my feedback will help the restaurant address these concerns and improve their customer...
