Today: I only order take out since the incident because the food is great. Its definitely fresh and tasty. Had the Boulagnee, the Sultani Dinner. Comes with the salad as you can see. The spicy and mild sauces balances the food with the rice, the meat and naan. Pricing is a bit expensive but i do think the quality of food speaks to it. If you plan take out - order 30 minutes in advance by phone. You will be expected to wait if you order once you arrive. Score: 3 stars. Not bad.
Sunday July 22nd 2018. Last score: 1 star On behalf of my parents (specially the request from my mother), I would like to share the incident that happened on the above date at this particular location. I don't know many owners that exhibit anger and frustration towards their customers while others are watching or dining, but this is a first. I am absolutely surprised that such a franchise would exhibit such behaviour. Long story short, a miscommunication between a front representative working and serving allowed an opportunity for a switch of a dish (prior to ordering, the one initially made would've taken more time). The representative was considerate and allowed the switch to be made before it was processed. The owner (not wanting to disclose his name, but described by my mother having white hair, middle aged, roughly 5"7 ish) somehow overheard, causing a scene by expressing his disbelief, his frustration towards his coworker, and my mother who requested it. My mother being middle-aged and a health patient was humiliated infront of many customers and she and my father became the center of attention. Denying that such a courtesy can be done, the owner did not exhibit this in any professional or positive manner. It escalated causing my father and the owner raising their voices, exchanging words , resulting with my folks existing the location. I am still in disbelief, and would strongly encourage anyone reading this to be more cautious when entering this location, with this owner in charge. Until then, our family will never step foot in this establishment ever again, and will make sure that everyone that we know recognize this...
Read moreHonestly hands down the best. I have no other words for the food. Rice is cooked perfectly. Chicken and meats are seasoned well, full bodied flavours. The naan is always perfect. The sauces are amazing, especially the white sauce. The hot sauce is a perfect blend that’s not over powering. I don’t get the salad in my dinner. Since I don’t like salad as much. So I ask for extra rice. Everything is filling and I always have left overs for lunch. We eat everything down to the last rice kernel. Others may not agree with me, but I love this place. I’ve been going there for the last 10 years and it’s the best for me. I’ve never been to Afghanistan so I’m hoping that the flavours and the food is to taste for people that do go there that are from Afghanistan and I’m very grateful for everything. The staff is wonderful. I always have a pleasant time there. It’s always busy though so especially on certain occasions, but it’s always good and you get your food. I didn’t give too much of stars for the atmosphere. It’s not fine dining it’s literally eat your food and go kind of thing but other than that, the food is always perfect. I’ve never had any issues with anything there. I’m grateful for everybody that works very hard there and they really do. They are on top of it. The staff is great. They hustle and am proud to support them this location particularly Dixie and Eglington is the best location I’ve gone to the other locations and they’re not the greatest as far as like customer service and employees being attentive to customers by Dixie Eglington, hands-down five star 1000 stars you guys rock thank you very much and a very grateful for all the work and all the...
Read moreI was really iffy about writing a review for this place because Mohamed loves ordering here all the time, except this time it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Our cashiers/server was quite rude and when we were asking about their specialities it was explained to us in a quick rushed manner so it didn’t really help us decide properly.
The downside of our visit the most was the fact that we waited for a super long time with no AC in the facility, on Hot, HUMID day, super packed inside (full house) and the fact that once our order# was called after a long time and it was ready, Mohamed double checked with the guy who passed it to him to ensure that the sauce we paid for was inside the bag and our entire order was complete before leaving ONLY to find out once we got home that it was NOT, NO SAUCE AT ALL, no sauce in the salad so it tasted dry.. this was very disappointing for the both of us. The bread provided was also a bit hard. Therefore a 3/5 stars. Will update this rating in the future should the experience and such change.
The positive side to this restaurant is that the rice and meat had good taste and purchasing a meal costs roughly $13.55 to share between two people is a good portion.
Sorry to say that we are unsure if we will return again or not from this experience as it was not the most pleasant.
A side note on the positive side is in this parking lot in front of this restaurant was the sweet free taste tester mangoes from Columbia that we got to enjoy & purchased a full box for $10 cash only (roughly 20 pieces). This part sort of made up for our no sauces in our order from...
