We always saw this place during our monthly grocery visits and wanted to try it someday. A couple of weeks back I had a craving for south Indian food and packed the whole family to sit and eat at the restaurant after a long time.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and the warm demeanour of the staff in the restaurant. The food was simple and without fuss, and if you know South Indian food, you know doing simple is not easy but it is the most authentic South Indian experience! We miss dahi-idly which is a sweet/salty/sour appetizer quite popular back in Delhi / NCR area - chains like Sagar Ratna and Nilgiris have this as a staple menu item. This place did not have that in their regular menu but they made every effort to bring us something close to what we describe and we really appreciated the effort.
We tried different dosas and mutton murthaba which was quite good. A note about Masala Chilli Garlic Dosa - it is hot! My daughter wanted to try it on a dare bu I had to swap my milder dosa with hers as she was unable to handle the chilli but I really liked it (and she sneaked in a bite or two once the initial hit of chilli subsided!)
Overall - a high recommendation for someone looking for a warm, authentic, South...
Read moreI used to really enjoy going to this place as the place is unpretentious and the south Indian food came very close to my memories from my childhood back home. I was disappointed today as I took my 85 year old mum to try the food. Initially the girl who welcomed us was kind as I asked her to seat us in the back. ( I needed to attend a video conference call). We waited for awhile... and she dropped off the menus and H20. (She appeared busy... as she walked away, I asked if they had ' Pongal'...she replied that they did not serve it anymore. We waited another 15 mins at which time I got to the counter and asked if someone was coming to take our orders. The young employees attitude changed...she accused me of being many things...when all I needed to know if someone was coming to take our orders. Sadly, the interaction after that went downhill. We were planning left without eating or buying any take out due to her poor attitude. Sorry to say, your business lost out. Raees Sharwama and Palma Pasta in the same plaza made the money your restaurant deserved. I don't feel good about putting this review, but her attitude took a turn that left...
Read moreVisited this restaurant last month on the recommendation of a friend. Service was quick enough, though it was not very busy on a weekend afternoon. I came here after reading the reviews on google, however the fare was decent and missed the wow factor I was expecting. The dosas were crisp and the chutneys that accompanied them were delicious. I ordered Murthuba as I was curious about the dish, it mentioned on the menu that it was served with a special Murthuba sauce but I was served Siracha sauce, upon inquiring with the server, I was informed that this was the only sauce they had. My friend ordered Sambar vada and I have never seen this dish served without chutney but we were informed it was not normally served with chutney. We finished with the Madras coffee, which was just the right temperature and blend. The one thing that put me off on my last visit was the server attending to a janitorial task in between serving food. Not a nice sight right in front of...
