Absolutely horrible experience. I will never forget that day. THE STAFF IS RACIST & RUDE!
Me & my boyfriend went on a date & decided to try out sunset grill. Our waiter was a dark brown wavy/curly haired woman. We were ready to order. I have an intollerance to pork & it does not sit well with me. So i politely requested the waitress to make sure they don’t accidently serve me bacon instead of turkey bacon & explained why.
To which her reply shocked me & my boyfriend.
She said with a rude tone “ no ur not allergic or intollerant to pork its your religion & k ill make sure.”
She walked away before i had the chance to reply. Like excuse me? Not only did u just accuse me of lying as a customer. But u also assumed my religion. WHEN I AM NOT MUSLIM! Even if i were this is a multicultural country, & everyone deserves equal respect. & U don’t know me. U cant tell me my health restrictions. Who speaks to someone like that?
I had to calm my boyfriend down because he was getting very upset. & I didn’t want to ruin our date.
When she came back i told her what she said was very disrespectful & rude to say to anyone. Hoping she would apologize & we would carry on because I don’t like negativity or arguments.
But she then shocked us even more with her ignorance saying.
“Im not racist. Im married to a black guy. I was just telling it like it is.”
Who speaks like that to people? Especially customers.
I asked for a manager. Understanding thr is something wrong with her. Normal people arnt rude & ignorant like this.
She then said. “I am the manager. & ok ur right im wrong, u are free to leave & i can cancel ur order.”
Unbelievable. I said.
This is the way they treat thr customers. My boyfriend & i left really disappointed & upset + aggrivated she ruined...
Read moreThis was my worst breakfast experience from an atmosphere experience perspective. The tables are so tightly packed, you can't even get up properly or even have some room to breathe. Constant banging of chairs against ours and always having to move around as people get up and want access to their chairs around you. We had to ask to be moved to another table which was till right but much better. My first and last time coming to this location.
The waitress helping us was nice, but the owners should take notice on how tightly packed and uncomfortable people are especially against the wall and the middle row of tables to the right when you walk in. It was a colder windier day as well, so there were gusts of wind blowing in.
From a food perspective it was good, however, the person I was with wanted to substitute the meat in the omelette to chicken as they could not eat ham and to do this the cost was $10 to add pieces of chicken!
Unfortunately will not be going back to this location. Would not recommend.
Update: Oct 10 – Response to owners feedback. — It was the seating and how tightly packed which was the main issue at your location which you did not address. The lack of substitution was a minor issue but just wanted to call out you do allow bacon, ham, or sausage as options included in the omelette, however, excluded chicken. Instead, chicken was to be added as a premium, of $10 (the standalone menu item). Odd because the chicken is included in the other egg options for $5.00 more.
I've been to other Sunset grills in Mississauga and Oakville which is why I wanted to try this closer location.
Ahh well, it is what it is, that is why we have reviews. You're totally right, this location in particular is not the...
Read moreI Wanted to extend our personal experience with this specific Sunset grill location. The location is 2901 Eglinton Ave W. ( Eglinton & Winston Churchill )
My husband and I moved to the area June 2017, and live just across the street from this location. We enjoy late afternoon breakfasts, and had been regulars of Coras were we used to lived. We are very active, and into fitness, so don't like anything fried. We tried this location, and was pleasantly surprised, the food was excellent and cooked on a grill. No deep fried home fries. Originally, we just went 1-2 days a week. But have found the staff and owners to be extremely accommodating to our eating. They allow us to modify and we often just have scrambled eggs/veggies.
Because of this, the kindness of the owners, and the friendliness of staff, we are now there pretty much every day of the week. We go Mon-Fri and some weekends. We seldom miss a day now.
This location is something special to us. The combination of excellent food, at a very valued price, plus very fast services, and friendly staff has us beyond impressed. Never have we seen a Sunset Grill offer so much.
Thanks very much for reading this, we highly recommend this...
