Disappointing Experience! Misleading Dish and Poor Service
I ordered the Fish Pot, which was clearly described on the menu as containing five types of seafood, including clams and squid, along with zucchini, mushrooms, and green onions. What I was served, however, was a bland vegetable soup with just one shrimp, half a crab shell, and one mussel. None of the key seafood components advertised were present. I politely pointed this out to the waiter, but he insisted it was the same dish. The owner later came, took the bowl away, and brought it back boiling hot- the only difference was the color (slightly redder). Still, no clams, no squid, and none of the missing ingredients were added. To make matters worse, I was charged $23 plus tax for a dish that was clearly not as described. Shortly after the meal, I also experienced stomach discomfort, though I can’t say for sure whether it was from the soup or the appetizers. I chose not to escalate the situation further as I was with a friend I hadn’t seen in years, but I feel it’s important to warn others. The food was not as advertised, the service was dismissive, and the pricing felt deceptive.
Buyer beware. I would not recommend this place based on my experience.
Response to the Owner’s Reply:
I appreciate that you took the time to respond, but I’m disappointed by the tone and personal accusations in your message.
My review was not written with malicious intent, it was an honest account of my experience. The dish I received did not match the menu description, and when I brought this up politely, the response was defensive rather than constructive. Reheating the same bowl without correcting the missing ingredients, then charging full price, understandably left me frustrated.
To suggest that I was “picking a fight,” or driven by “greed,” is not only untrue but incredibly unprofessional. I didn’t raise my voice or demand anything; I simply pointed out a clear discrepancy between what was advertised and what was served. That’s a basic customer right.
And yes, I ate part of the meal because I was with a friend I hadn’t seen in years, and I chose not to let the situation dominate the evening. That doesn’t mean the dish was acceptable or matched your description.
Your response seems more focused on discrediting me than acknowledging that something may have gone wrong. That kind of attitude only reinforces the concerns I raised about how customers are treated when they give honest feedback.
I hope future feedback is met with more openness and less hostility or defensiveness - it would serve your...
Read moreMy mom didn’t feel like cooking so a few of my family decided to go out for Korean food. Wow Korean was on my list of ‘to try’ restaurants. The interior and vibe is homey. There was a couple in cute matching white rimmed glasses who did all the cooking and a young server. This is as ‘mom & pop’ as it gets.
It was kind of difficult to scroll through an iPad menu as it was fixed in place so not everyone could see the items. I was excited to see they had Gulbossam Jeong Sik ($23.99) as bossam is one of my favourite Korean eats. My sister and I decided to share it. The brined pork belly boiled in aromatics was soft and luscious. There were 2 oysters in the accompanying radish salad and they added texture and umami to our romaine lettuce pork wraps. Too bad there was only 2 oysters!
The rest of my family had Pork-on-Bone Soup ($15.99). The pork was tender and the broth good. It only had a slight kick of spice which was perfect for my parents and my brother-in-law.
We shared a Seafood Green Onion Pancake ($21.99) which was full of oyster, shrimp and squid, and a Pan Fried Kimchi Pancake ($14.99). Both were good but we preferred the seafood pancake. They were both filling.
We gobbled everything up. It was simple, homey...
Read moreI used to be the regular here every week, but it changed my perspective and respect towards the owner after last visit. I ordered a plate of korean fried chicken, the serving was completely different compared to the pic on the menu. I understand that there is always some varies between actual serving and pic illustration but this level of difference has surprised me so much till i dropped my jaw. The breading of fried chicken was so thick and not crispy at all, it is not korean fried chicken at all. It was like a full thick layer of flour. And after I had the first bite, there was a bad smell and the meat was not fresh at all. You basically can see all those red tendons and tissues inside and you definitely can tell the meat was from some very low quality supply. At first I thought it was just a rare bad encounter but after I tried the second piece I knew they no longer keep their quality as they used to be. I should have taken a photo of it and post here. Service was ok but I am very disappointed...
