Cooksville Fish And Chips — Restaurant in Mississauga

went today for the first time and found the experience to be between good and very good. my order consisted of haddock n chips, med coleslaw, and 2 fish rolls and a soda totaling $12. The special for $5 that u see in other reviews is for Basa fillets not the haddock or halibut fish.

The fish itself was well prepared the batter was nice crispy and not really greasy and the fish inside was quite tasty, about 5x5 inch square piece, The fries were generic frozen fries Not fresh cut as i was expecting, for such a small place you would figure it wouldnt take much to put the effort into making your own fries.

The coleslaw was nothing special just some store bought slaw mix and mayonaise and a bit sugar as well i think, tasted a bit of sweetness to it,.

The fish rolls were not to bad either, they were 2 frozen spring roll type rolls with fish in them instead of veg like a regular spring roll.

I've heard good things about it, so being nearby I went to try it. Did not even get a chance to order anything before they asked me to leave. When I walked it, the man was exclaiming something while the woman listened. They asked what I want to order, I told them haddock fish and chips. The man then asked me if I can leave and come back in 10 minutes. I was confused why they would say that. I was okay with waiting ands asked if they can prepare it so that I can pick it up 10 minutes later. The woman said, it's very fast only needs 3 minutes to cook. Then the man interrupted and said, either you wait 10 minutes to go somewhere else to eat.

This place has been around a long, long time. The status it has achieved is not based on the present quality of food. This is, hands down, the worst Fish and Chips we have ever had. It was 50% OILY batter that actually smelled bad. That is because they keep using the oil over and over and over! The fries were also greasy and had that flavour of over used oil. These are not the original owners, they can't be. I predict this place will cease to exist in the next 6 to 12 months. These proprietors have no clue about Fish and Chips if they did they would not open their doors to the public with this type of fare.
