I cannot say enough good things about St James’ Gate on Church Street in Moncton. After being left in the out in the rain (pretty much literally) by another restaurant in town where our reservation made in February and was cancelled by them without notice… St. James’ Gate took in our party of 19 with only a few hours' notice. The staff was amazing and I want to give a special shout out to our server Oliva and the manager on duty on the evening of May 7th (I am sorry I did not get your name but shout out to you too… you know who you are!) The staff went ABOVE AND BEYOND to accommodate my parents (surprise) 50th wedding anniversary dinner celebration. From coming outside into the rain to help assist my 94-year-old grandmother into the restaurant with my aunt to our waitress taking a look at a photo of our parents so as not to accidently give us away if they came early (which they did and she sat them on the opposite side of the restaurant at a table and played along until everyone arrived!) The restaurant itself was beautiful with exposed brick and great atmosphere. There was live music that we could hear in the background when we were in private room that was great! Food was excellent and well-priced. There was a lot of variety in everyones order- I think only 2 people got the same thing and everyone said their meal was delicious. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making our celebration a success. From servers, managers, chefs and everyone in between. You made our evening fantastic- just as our...

Looking for a great ambiance and atmosphere. Look no further. St. James Gate is an intimate, business casual pub with excellent decor. The arched ceilings are a beautiful feature, but be careful the acoustics are very unique and it has been known to hear conversations from the opposite side of the bar.
The drink menu is top notch, beer selection is excellent, wine and spirit options are second to none. The food menu is unique and always perfectly prepared. The diversity of the menu ensures there will be something for everyone. Allergies/food sensitivities, be sure to let them know and they will be happy to accommodate.
The staff are welcoming, attentive, pleasant and very knowledgeable about all menu items and options.
Being in the heart of the downtown core it is conveniently located in close proximity to many other bars, pubs, hotels and Centre Avenir which hosts Moncton's sporting and concert events.
If you find yourself not wanting to leave, no problem! Simply reserve a room upstairs at the St. James Hotel and stay the night in an exquisite setting.
Start or end your night at the Gate you won't be disappointed.

Read moreDisappointing experience at St. James gate for dinner on Friday July 21. We went for the buck a shuck, but I also ordered a spinach and scallop salad I previously liked. Oysters were missing from our order. When the salad came out - it was not with spinach, it was with regular lettuce. I wouldn’t have ordered it had I known about the substitution. I mentionned it right away to the waitress. She assured us that if we kept the salad they would make up for the mistake when it came time for the bill. I assumed it would be a discount, which I was fine with - we didn’t want to make a fuss or return the meal. After the waitress came to confirm we were done and brought us our bills. I asked what the waitress meant when she said there would be an adjustment in the end to make up for the salad mix up. Looking rather annoyed, she said she could offer us a free desert or glass of wine - but by that time we were ready to leave. She said we could remind her next time we see her, which seemed rather impractical, and odd. Although we tried to be pleasant, we found her increasingly rude as the evening went on. I alone spent more than 60$ there that night, not including tip, and felt let down for the price I paid. We tried to reach out to management before posting this and did not get any kind...
