Two of us visited here when the place was less than a week old, in July 2019. We were drawn in simply because it is a dumpling restaurant that seemed to make its own dumplings. It was empty aside from one other couple who were finishing their meal. They smiled and showed us their food selections, which, as another reviewer pointed out, are meant to be shared and not kept to oneself.
The young woman who took our order did so promptly and friendly; she quickly returned with some sort of salad that was being promoted since the place had just opened. It was delicious!
We ordered one order of dumplings and one order of xian long boa (sp?) - the latter of which look like little pouches and were my favorite. I honestly don't remember the filling we had (maybe pork and crab?) but so, so delicious!
There was some sort of mistake made on our order, so we got an additional 5-10 dumplings free. I don't recall the mistake, and whatever it was, it was minor, so it certainly was a great indicator the restaurant was really trying to be good.
At the end of the meal, I went up to the register to pay (as opposed to having the check brought to the table). The same young woman who took the order also handled the cash register. We had ordered split flavors, for which there is a small upcharge. However, the young woman rang in four full orders- without the split- so that took some correcting. Also, I noticed that although Discover and American Express stickers were said to be accepted, neither worked for us, so I paid with a Mastercard.
I would certainly, certainly visit again. There were a few bumps, but for a restaurant that had been open only six days, the experience was fantastic! Even restaurants that have been open for six years have small issues!

Read moreThis quaint dumpling place is tucked away on St.Denis street amongst all the hustle and bustle of the other restaurants. From what we saw, it was run by an all women crew. Kudos for that! That being said my wife and I had #29 (beef and onion)#32(cabbage and mushroom) and #32A (potato and veggies), the Takoyaki balls, and the shrimp wonton soup. We stayed in Montreal for 5 days and all 5 days we came here for takeout. The dumplings are made in house, by hand, and are the most delicious dumplings we’ve had outside of Chinatown NYC. They are relatively priced toward the lower end of the spectrum $13.99 CAD. The wonton soup was the best we’ve had equal amounts savory and hearty, without it being over the top. The broth was clear and aromatic, the shrimp wontons were cooked perfectly and as you bit into them we were hit with a mouthful of deliciousness. By far one of our favorite places we’ve been to. The portions are plentiful, and you’re getting a lot a bang for your buck. Highly recommend this dumpling spot. You...
Read moreI ordered takeout from Beijing Dumpling on Friday night for a family dinner, and I couldn't be happier with our experience. The dumplings were still piping hot when we got home, which was a pleasant surprise. We tried both the beef and lamb pan-fried dumplings, and they were absolutely amazing. The dumpling skins were incredibly thin, and the filling was bursting with flavor and juices with every bite. As a fan of xiao long bao (soup dumplings), I can't wait to come back and try theirs.
What impressed me further was their homemade chili oil – it's a must-try if you enjoy a bit of spice with your dumplings. The owner was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. I also noticed that the kitchen was spotlessly clean, which is always a good sign.
I'm already looking forward to my next visit. If you're a dumpling enthusiast like me, this place is a hidden gem in Montreal. Don't miss out on their xiao long bao – I...
