A Traumatic Encounter with Culinary Excellence at Bofinger BBQ Let me preface this by saying, if you value mediocrity, if you cherish the bland, and if your palate recoils at the mere suggestion of genuine flavor, then for the love of all that is unspectacular, DO NOT go to Bofinger BBQ in Montreal. Consider yourselves warned. My recent visit was nothing short of an assault on my carefully cultivated apathy towards barbecue. I went in expecting the usual, the forgettable, the "it'll do." What I received was a gastronomic intervention I didn't ask for and am now, infuriatingly, grateful for. First, the barbecue ribs. Oh, the utter gall of these ribs! They were so ludicrously tender, so shamelessly falling off the bone, that one wonders if they've bribed the laws of physics. Each bite was a decadent, smoky whisper of perfection, drenched in a sauce that had no business being so profoundly balanced – sweet, tangy, with just enough of a kick to remind you that your taste buds are, in fact, alive and currently being exploited for pleasure. It was an insult to every dry, chewy rib I've ever reluctantly consumed. And the French fries? Preposterous! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned with such devilish precision that they rendered ketchup entirely redundant. Who needs a condiment when the fry itself is a masterpiece? It’s almost offensive in its simplicity and flawless execution. Then there was the mac and cheese. This wasn't just mac and cheese; it was a creamy, cheesy, carb-laden conspiracy against willpower. Rich, comforting, and dangerously addictive, it clung to every noodle with an unapologetic intensity. It’s the kind of side dish that actively tries to sabotage your main course by being equally, if not more, compelling. A true villain, disguised as comfort food. And finally, the chicken. Juicy, flavorful, with skin that boasted an almost criminal char. It wasn't merely cooked; it was transformed. Each piece was a testament to proper seasoning and masterful grilling, forcing me to confront the harsh reality that I may never look at a rotisserie chicken the same way again. In conclusion, Bofinger BBQ is a menace. It dares to serve food that is genuinely, unequivocally delicious, thereby raising the bar to an uncomfortably high level. If you enjoy your culinary experiences to be just "fine" or "decent," then absolutely, unequivocally, avoid Bofinger. You've been warned: your expectations for good barbecue will be irrevocably ruined.

I had never been to Bofinger BBQ before, but for the Superbowl we were having a small party and wanted to order bbq by weight. It's a super normal thing in the US to get meat by the pound but none of the three places I've had bbq at in Montreal offered it this way. I called Bofinger and was told of course they do so we ordered 1.5kg of pulled pork and 1kg of brisket. We ordered a day in advance and picked up on Sunday. They called to verify we'd be able to get it still and accommodated us coming by early. Although it was pretty empty at 230 on a Sunday the ambiance of the restaurant was nice and the the smoky smell was just right. We grabbed some Carolina and Texas bbq sauces and a bit of last minute coleslaw as well. When we told Amir we were from the US he let us try the pork ribs which were really amazing! Fresh out of the smoker, juicy, meaty and super flavorful. We tried the bbq pork and brisket immediately after bringing it home and it was great as well. Pulled pork honestly has a very high floor, it's almost never bad, but the brisket was very good. Fatty enough to not be dry. Could have used a tad bit more salt for me but I like my meat pretty salty so it's probably a personal preference. Coleslaw was the "health salad" variety not creamy which isn't standard for BBQ places I've been to but also is my preferred type of coleslaw normally so no complaints there. Both sauces were good and I was happy to hear him clarify South Carolina when I asked if they had Carolina sauce. Both were nice and tangy. All in all a great experience with excellent service and reasonable prices - exactly what I hoped for. Will definitely be back for the full rack of those ribs.

Ordered from Bofinger, received two very sad and dry sandwiches with no sauce (even though it came with both orders), no condiment, no cheese, and not even tomatoes or lettuce. The fries and coleslaw were good, I'll add a star for that. Edit after Bofinger's response : This was a Uber order. I did indeed specify the Alabama and Texas sauces for the sandwhiches, but I can confirm there wasn't a drop sauce neither in the burgers (as shown on the picture) nor on the side. Just dry buns, dry meat, and fries. Yes on Uber there is a "Garnish" option, but there is no description of what it is. Also more importantly, you are charging money for it, which means a customer must pay for basics like tomatoes and lettuce (we're not talking cheese and bacon here). Last I checked your onsite menu doesn't charge for basic garnish, probably because no one would dare charging a customer for lettuce and tomatoes to their face. I would advice you look at your neighbors, for example Olivia's Chicken lists all the garnish individually for selection, and most garnish is free... even onion rings (which I would agree they could charge for) !

Decent barbecue in Montreal”

We visited Bofinger barbecue in Montreal for my son's eighth birthday last week. The ambiance is a bit cold for my liking it didn't feel warm and soulful barbecue because of the dark wood and open concept but the color scheme the warmth of the soul food vibe just wasn't there for me,

And a huge letdown for me was the fact that there was no kids menu or kids portions per se it really is adult portions of food for little kids if you want to feed your kids they either have to have an appetizer or share a plate which if your kids or anything like mine sharing is not their favorite thing to do.

The menu is okay it doesn't offer a huge variety but it has the basic favorites or the trendy options I should say the pulled pork the Po boys the ribs and a bit of chicken the price is high the bow finger burger comes in at a whopping 1495 for a plate as I said if you're bringing the kids and they want to burger that's what they're paying on top of it the burger comes of pulled pork so if the kids just want a burger they can't have one.I did try their mac & cheese which is always one of my soul food favorites but everywhere down south I love me some mac & cheese but here in Montreal I was a little skeptical and rightfully so after asking my server what kind of cheese that used in the macaroni they told me it was powdered sauce that was a big big letdown. As for the meat it was delicious it was smoked well it was cooked well it was fine for barbecue that I would expect to get in a non-southern state.

The bottom line is this if you were going out with some buddies or after work and you're looking to throw back a couple of beers and have some barbecue this place is more than adequate it will do but to bring the family expect to shell out some dough it cost us $65 for for two adults two kids and we were being very mindful of the price that included sharing...
