my boyfriend and i came around 7pm to celebrate valentine’s day and we were immediately sitted down. we then ordered two cocktails that arrived after 10 mins. there was no complaints up until now whatsover. we also ordered a bowl of sashimis. around 8pm, we started wondering if our order was forgotten because we thought it wasn’t normal that preparing some raw fish can take up to an hour. we kept looking around and people who came after us received their foods, course after course. at some point, we asked one of the waitresses if she could check if our order was coming soon. she said she’ll check it out, but never came back to us although she continued serving the people sitting right next to us. we then asked the other waitress and she said that it was coming soon. we ended up waiting till 8:30pm, but still no sashimi bowl. we asked the waitress a second time and she continued to say that it was coming soon. after waiting for more than 1h30, we decided to leave so we asked for the bill. our waitress gave us the bill and charged us the sashimi bowl even though we never received it, we had to tell her to remove it. she didn’t apologize for the wait, she just let us leave without ever receiving the order we placed an hour and a half ago. we felt really disrespected by the staff and we wasted so much time on an important occasion. will...

We chose this restaurant for our Valentine's date, expecting a great atmosphere, delicious food, and quality service. While the ambiance was initially inviting, our experience quickly turned into a frustrating ordeal. We started with two cocktails, which arrived in a reasonable 10 minutes. Alongside, we ordered a few dishes, understanding that it was a busy night and food might take some time. However, after waiting for over an hour—watching tables around us receive multiple rounds of food while we sat with empty plates—it became clear that we were forgotten. Despite reminding both waitresses multiple times, our food never arrived. Each time, we were assured it was coming, but with no sense of urgency or apology. After hours of waiting, we gave up on ever receiving our meal. To make matters worse, when the bill arrived, we were charged for everything—including dishes that never even made it to our table. When we pointed this out, the waitress casually responded, "Oh, it never came out?" with zero remorse. Between the atrocious service, lack of accountability, and the sheer disrespect of charging us for food we never received, this was hands down one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. Would not recommend, and certainly will never return. Freezing in the snow storm was more...

We came to Gokudo for a second time because we liked the cocktails we had before.

This last time, however, was one very awful experience. It took us almost 45-minutes to be seen by someone. Then, a long time for the cocktails to arrive. Again, another long wait to be seen again for a second time.

We asked for our bill and it never came - and our waiter would not proactively come and see us. After waiting for a long time, I came downstairs and kindly asked for our bills, as we had to leave. He came and brought us wrong bills. He went downstairs, and brought us new bills, which were incorrect again. Some items were missing, and we told him that something could have gone wrong. So, he went downstairs, corrected our bill and, this time, he had forgotten the credit card machine...

While mess-ups are understandable, we thought that our waiter did not care much about us, neither provided us with an attentive service.

He would not come and eventually see us, neither would look at us, so we could reach him, if needed. It also took us more than one-hour from the moment we asked our bills to finally be able to leave...

Fantastic drinks, service and atmosphere. Must go to. Especially great for a date. I will be back. Tucked away like a true speakeasy off a non busy street but is still downtown. The waiters are nice, the drinks are good, a lot of Asian alcohol based drinks or flavors of course. Drinks average prices. Cocktails around the 13$ mark. Say hi to Julien, he's awesome! Lots of nooks and cranny so it feels intimate and the music wasn't loud so you can actually talk, and the music was good deep house style. There's only a 55 person capacity and 3-4 bartenders but each of their drinks takes time and artistry to make. They test taste all of them to ensure its perfect. Truly a great place to come and slow down and forget time.

Came here with a good friend to have a drink and could not be more pleased with the outcome. First off, the place is relatively hidden from plain sight so I can't imagine someone finding this place without knowing its existence beforehand, which gave a very mysterious vibe the moment you step inside. I won't spoil the experience, but the interior design made the entrance extremely unique and memorable. And last but certainly not the least, was the service. Hands down the best bartender I've encountered in recent memory with sharp and utmost professionalism. That South Side was one impeccable concoction. I will definitely be returning here, hoping Andy is behind the bar.

I have visited this place twice now, and I particularly enjoyed the Hojo Masako cocktail, which comes with seaweed and is truly unique. The atmosphere is excellent with pleasant music playing in the background. However, the seating is limited, so you may have to sit with someone else, which can be a bit uncomfortable. Also, every time we arrived, there was an Asian lady working at the entrance who never greeted us or said hello. This made me a bit unsure whether the bar was open or closed. Overall, I had a great experience at this place, but there were a few minor drawbacks that could be improved. I would still recommend giving it a try!"
