Extremely disappointed in the service I received here. I came to the Old Dublin on St. Patrick’s Day after walking in the parade with my family. After ordering the overpriced fish and chips, I asked for a water. Our waiter told us that I could not have water because it was St. Patrick’s Day and his boss would be mad if he saw people with water. When I told him I was pregnant and couldn’t drink, he told me I could get juice or pop then because I would have to pay for something and free water was not acceptable. After he left, one of my family members went to the bar and got me a water, with no questions asked by the bartender (thank goodness, because my pregnancy hormones had got the best of me and I had started to cry from how rude our waiter had been to me). My family was obviously upset and said that their tip to him would reflect his rudeness to me. When it came time to pay, the same waiter got mad at my cousin for his tip and said, “this isn’t even 15 percent!” He didn’t leave our table until my cousin dug an additional $2 out for his tip! I couldn’t believe that for such poor service and making a patron cry, he still EXPECTED to get a 15% tip. I’ve never been treated so badly by a server before. If you like to be treated with respect, find another pub to visit...

This place came up on a Google search for dog friendly restaurants near the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth in Montreal. We thought we might check out the Jazz Festival down the street from there and get a couple beers and a snack in the way. Well, when we stepped inside the server/bartender took one look at Minnie and said "Sorry, dogs aren't allowed in the bar". I said, we're sorry, but the name came up in a Google search for dog friendly places and started to turn to leave. But he took another look at Minnie, a 15 pound chihuahua papillon and said ah she doesn't look like much trouble - c'mon in.

So we sat down and felt lucky because started pouring down rain outside. We got a beer and ordered some food and it was true, Minnie wasn't any trouble at all, the beer was great and I loved my burger. My wife had been having stomach problems today, so she just ate a few chicken fingers. Minnie helped us with the fries and a couple leftover chicken fingers.

Overall, it was a great experience and we appreciated the shelter...

We just arrived in town and stopped here for our first beverage/meal. The workers seemed to know several of the patrons. This, in my view, is a “hole in the wall” type place where I’m from. We ordered a Maker’s and a half and half. The makers was truly a 1 oz drink, but my beer was perfect. I ordered a burger which came with fries, and my wife ordered an extra order of fries. The burger came out well done, which is fine, and the fries were good. The burger was very bland, no seasoning at all.

The beverages were good. The entertainment came as we were eating (guy with a guitar), and in this venue, that would be perfect. There were about 20-25 people in here, so as a neighborhood bar, I’ll give it high marks. The food wasn’t the best, but it hit the spot after getting off an airplane. Overall it was just OK. If you live or work in the neighborhood, though, it looked like a great place...

We were harassed by the female bar tender who told us we were not leaving her enough of a tip ! She told us that now she’d have to pay money to the government on the amount she felt we hadn’t paid in the tip. When we asked if she declared cash tips , she said it was different for cash !! She also charged me $3.05 for a splash of soda to go into my wine.(previous bar tender did not) This girl’s attitude towards tourists and customers is very disrespectful

We sat at the bar for dinner. The fact that it wasn’t busy on a Saturday night should have told us something. After a couple beers, we ordered chicken fingers with onion rings and fish and chips. Both were large portions and the quality was good but not great. It irritated us that we were charged $.75 for an extra tartar sauce. Our bartender Tara was personable and efficient. But we wish we had waited in line for our first choice.
