This is a monument dedicated to King Edward VII at Philips Square in downtown area of Montreal. It is the work of Louis-Philippe Hébert and was erected in 1914. What you see is a dignified depiction of Edward VII in royal attire with a sceptre in his right hand while he rests his left on the crown placed on a cushion. The King stands upon an modestly ornate base surrounded by allegorical and symbolic figures, before steps on each of the four sides of the monument. It is a nice statue worth spending a few moments to enjoy if you enjoy monument viewing and plan to spend time in this area of Montreal.
