The first thing I want to write is if there is MINUS 10 for the front end service, I will do so. I want to share my story at this restaurant so you guys can consider whether you should come to this place. My family and I had a weekend in Montreal and we went to this restaurant to have my sister birthday, but turn out it was a big disappointment when I chose this restaurant to celebrate my sister’s birthday birthday. However, it was not my first time to be here so I knew this restaurant is very busy. Thats why before one hour coming to the restaurant, I called to book a table so we didnt have to wait that long, but the receptionist told me that I didnt need to book, just come and they would have table for us. When we reached there, it was a long line and the receptionist put us on waitlist and told us that we had to wait for 40 mins. 25 mins later, I came to ask the receptionist how many tables before us, she told me 5 tables. 35 mins later, my sis came to ask, she said 2 tables. The reason we asked because we had a small baby so we wanted to know whether we should wait or change the restaurant. We stayed inside the restaurant to wait and what we observed was that they let many people came after you get a table. After 60 minutes, we did not have any table. We came to ask the receptionist again, she told me there were many tables before us. I got very pissed off and asked to see the manager. The guy who called himself manager came to talk to me. He didnt understand the situation, he took the ipad for reservation and showed me there were almost 20 reservations before me. The attitude of the receptionist and the manager were very rude and there was no word for apologizing that we had to wait that long. I was wondering that a famous restaurant in the middle of downtown Montreal and have these staffs to serve. The owner of this restaurant should have a look at the staff and teach them how to talk to customers and how to manage the reservations. If they think that they cannot serve within the time that they say, please dont get more customers and let us wait. That would be nice and we would come back another time. Having rude staffs will destroy the image of a good restaurant. To me, I will never come back this place and will never recommend it to...

The food was fresh and delicious. I'm from Ontario and miss the cheese wontons common at sushi spots there, and I think the fried cheese served here is an excellent replacement that filled that cheese wonton shaped void in my stomach.
The sushi itself was extremely fresh and beautifully made, and the sashimi was no different - fresh and cut wonderfully, no fishy smell whatsoever. The tamago sashimi, a favourite of mine, was moist and sweet and I ordered plenty. The eel was also the BEST I have had in Montreal. Every order of eel sushi came warm, perfectly cooked, and just melted in my mouth.
However, the service was a little disappointing at times. We were a large party and found ourselves having to reorder quite often - if we ordered too many of a single item, it would just never arrive. We eventually noticed that if we ordered just 5, it would always show up without fail, so I'm not sure if there's some kind of system that denies certain numbers for specific foods. Towards the end only half of us got our desserts. We were a large party with two tablets, so I'm not sure if that caused confusion somehow. Missing food is nothing new at AYCE sushi restaurants in my experience, but it was particularly annoying here.
However, all things considered, I still had a great night with friends while enjoying delicious food and amazing decoration. This place will do great and I hope to come back some time...
Read moreWe reserved a table for 15; we arrived 10 minutes early and they had us wait 20 minutes outside despite the reservation. The ambiance is very nice with all the studio Ghibli decor. It has 2 floors and is bigger than seen on the pictures.
The Torched sushis were well received. The beef ribs are devoured. The tempura is a nice side dish to all the sushi. Did I mention they have fried cheese? One bite is enough to leave you satisfied. The hand rolled cornet were on point, perfect amount of rice to garnish. Sautéed mushrooms were perfect. Sautéed udon on the other hand was too oily. The banana ice cream is very good. It has a very nostalgic aroma, reminding you of banana hard candy or marshmallow, however the taste is light. The fried mochi's filling was overcooked. Fried oreo goes well with vanilla ice cream. Fried pineapple is atrocious.
For a sum of 57$/person, tip included it's a decent place to eat at. Drinks cost extra.
There is also less wait time if you order sufficient amount at the start. But there are extra fees if you waste because it's an "all you can eat".
