The food is overall decent except for the occasional splashes of salt in their poutine that is immensely overpowering and makes you wonder how high your blood pressure will increase after consumption all the while feeling the constant urge to keep yourself extra hydrated. That being said, the nachos, especially, was very good and deserves at least a 4/5. The drinks are on the sweater and pricier end, but what’s unique about this place is how creative the drink names are - you would feel compelled to try them out. Thus, this place should be quite palatable to curious explorers who look beyond the price tags and don’t mind the blood pressure and glycemic surges.
The reason why I’m rating this place a 2/5 is because how amateur (if I have to put it nicely) my waitress was on that fateful evening. We came as a party of 6, and the restaurant only had 4 tables of customers for the whole night. She first forgot to serve the drink to my friend, then refused to look in our direction for a good half hour while she spent her sweet time at the two far-end tables and then hopped to the corner to drink shots with her other colleagues. She then finally saw our hands raised in the air literally like elementary students trying to answer questions in class when classes were still in-person, found out how she had forgotten to serve my main dish, which was THE DISH I had looked forward to having, and apologetically told me the kitchen had closed.
Do waiters not check how customers are doing after dumping the orders onto them these days? Do waiters not ask for final round of orders before the kitchen closes these days? Do waiters not look at customers and their lurking-with-burning-desire-for-servers’-attention-gazes these days? Do waiters drink on the job these days? I hope it’s just that one waitress who’s the anomaly and not that COVID has made it the norm to serve customers with superficially apologetic apathy.
Also, just want to mention that this waitress had mistakenly put the wrong items on my friend’s bill, and that 50% of the waiters that night wore masks below their noses.
In any case, you should still check it out since I’m sure you are dying to find out how atrocious the service can be. I rate a 2/5 so you can expect the least and be...
Read moreA friend booked a table at this restaurant for a group of us for dinner last night.
First impression walking in: a fun and lively spot for a Friday night dinner and drinks with friends. The hostess at the door greeted me with a smile. Music was great and added to the atmosphere without being overpowering.
Our waiter was friendly, attentive without being over the top, and graciously bilingual. All of our orders came at the same time and small adjustments (dressing on the side) were remembered.
If you’re a burger lover, this place has plenty of options. If you’re not a burger lover like me (I went for the friends not so much for the food initially), there were a number of (even heathy!) options. I was so surprised at how good the salmon tartar was. Usually if you go to a restaurant specializing in something and you don’t get the specialty, well it’s usually not that great. But the tartar was really excellent. Bonus that it had avocado and a nice mix of seasoning. Extra bonus that the dressing on the side came in an environmentally friendly compostable little cup rather than plastic.
Our table had a small sticker with a two hour limit (understandable given what restaurants have had to endure during covid and they need to turn tables to make money). Since we were there towards the end of the night and tables were available, we did stay longer and weren’t bothered, but if we had been asked for the table, the sticker was a nice head’s up.
In conclusion, I never would have chosen this place on my own. But having gone there and had such a good experience with service, atmosphere, and food, I would definitely go again—-even not being a...
Read moreFood is good but very disappointed in the service. First of all if there is a time limit it should be communicated at the time of reservation - which it was not. We reserved for 5 Saturday at 6pm and nowhere did it say there was a time limit. After finishing our meals but not finishing our drinks we were told there was another reservation in 15 mins. I then asked "oh where is the desert menu" as we weren't even shown the menu. I order a desert to share to basically buy us more time. Might I add there were no recommendations given for desert, nor were we ever asked if we wanted more drinks. As we couldn't finish the desert I asked for it to go, she brings the bill right away, yet again did not ask us if we wanted anything else or more drinks (to which we would have replied yes BTW). Seconds after I pay the bill a man comes to our table says he is Jo the Manager and literally just tells us he needs this table. Again, he did not ask how we liked everything, if we wanted anything else, nor did he even mention that if we wanted to continue to drink there were seats at the bar.. Considering there are a lot of great burger spots in the city where I NEVER got "kicked out" of, I won't be returning here again. My recommendations nearby if you're a group of people wanting to stay a while to eat and drink and have a pleasant time: -Deville -Burger Bar Crescent -Notre Boeuf de Grace -also reuben's close by (but better for smoked meat of course)
*ALSO MIGHT I ADD I've eaten at other locations like the Laval one quite a few times and never was asked to leave - if you want to try this food I would recommend the...
