When my girlfriend and i saw this place on google, its hidden patio and rustic feel seemed like it could be our new favourite spot. As regular drinkers, there's nothing better than a down to earth, honest pub.
Upon arrival, we were quickly seated by friendly staff. I ordered a boreale blond, my partner a gin and tonic. My beer was great. Her cocktail, however, tasted like it was completely free of gin. Not a light pour, or melted ice, but absolutely no tracable flavour of gin. The drink consisted of more than simply tonic and lime. A dash of clear bitters, we suspected, was added to mimic the flavour of gin. But i cant be 100% sure.
Not wanting to jump the gun on our skepticism, we ordered another gin and tonic, this time a double. Unfortunatly the second drink was a bigger virgin than the first, and despite finishing both drinks in under 45 minutes, she felt absolutely no effect of alcohol (we had not been drinking prior, so you would notice your first three drinks).
Could it be true that this establishment is serving blanks to their customers? We didn't want it to be. But that's where the evidence points. There was 0 detectable flavour of alcohol, and no alchoholic effects whatsover despite quick drinking. That is simply inconsistent with what is supposed to be 3 ounces of gin at $6 a pop.
To be clear. We paid the tab, and didnt mention anything. But If you're gonna come here, stick to what comes out of a keg because either there's an alcoholic bartender doing shift shots out of the Bombay and replacing it with water, or they intentionally charge people for booze and fail to deliver.
TL/DR: Great atmosphere, friendly staff, possibly shady buisness practices regarding...
Read moreI’ve been to this bar many times in the past years. There has clearly been some changes to the management and attitude of the staff. This bar used to be amazing but tonight I’ve quite frankly had a horrible experience I’ve paid far too much for cheap beer and the manager Argentine has been very rude to me and my friends. When we asked for a vodka redbull they did not inform us that they didn’t have any redbull they charged us 10$ for a discount monster energy drink and 9$ for a Smirnoff shot. I know this is downtown but these are ridiculous prices. When we made some commentaries on the increase in price to argentine, the manager who gave us our bill, became immediately defensive and treated us like children. During the short conversation she was incredibly disrespectful and insulted one of my friends telling him he didn’t know anything and his opinion was worthless. This is unacceptable behaviour from staff. One last thing I have to add all the previous managers and staff who were very friendly at this bar are gone the vibe is no...
Read moreI have been to this place a few times now and thought that its time for a review..the place is huge and easy to reach..just get off at Berri-UQAM or st laurent station and its very close ..the main attraction of this place is the huge huge terrace with such long serpentine plants going to the top...on top of that the lighting in the place is really nice which makes the place more vibrant and nice looking. If its summer time and you can sit outside please go straight to the terrace and u will have lots of fun.. The drinks are priced appropriately as per the norm..not expensive and i see lots of students at this place. Mostly the place is full and the service is so so. .the waitress came and gave us the menu but never came to take the order..we ordered at the bar instead ..but later on she came to apologize for not taking the order..we understood as there were lots of people that night..but over all a very nice place ..will...
