The restaurant is very clean and beautiful, and while it looks very fancy on the inside and outside, they are happy to serve casually dressed customers. The price does reflect its decorations and aura, though, so be sure to check out the menu to make sure it is within your budget. The food was very delicious, and they selected a great cheese for the job. I had forgotten to ask what the cheese was, unfortunately. I will have to admit that besides “it tasted delicious,” I have no idea whether or not the price tag is justified as I’m not very well acquainted with differentiating great and bad cured meat. What was definitely worth the price tag, on the other hand, was the service. Both front end servers are incredibly kind and accommodating, very reassuring, an enjoyable to interact with. They were patient in explaining the menu and easy to understand. We had arrived 30 minutes before the listed closing time on Google Maps (our bad), but they didn’t even hesitate to seat us. The enthusiasm the server showed us 30 minutes before closing is seriously something I’ve never seen in Canada before. Not only did they not mention anything about closing, but after we had brought it up and apologized, whenever the server saw us do anything In a rush, they would very kindly remind us to take our time and it’s not a problem at all we arrived late. Just incredible service all around. I really would love to give 5 stars based on service alone, but felt the price was still on the high side, hence the 4 stars. I can’t express enough just how good the service is, though. Unbelievably accommodating in ways I’ve never seen or expect in Canada. If it’s within your budget and you love cheese, this is a must go.

A hidden restaurant since it's located in a residential area. It's a cute restaurant with a good ambiance. You could get a reservation but we went a Saturday night at 19:00 and there were still empty places when we left around 21:00. You can bring your own wine. For the menu you have to get a two or three services. We got the one with two services which includes a gaspacho or the soup of the day and a main of your choosing. The gaspacho, a cold soup, tasted like tomatoes and capsicum. It's good but not for everyone. The soup of the day was ginger, carrot and green beans. I enjoyed this one more. Then I got the cheese fondue which I shared with my mom (it's for 2 persons). The fondue came with a dish containing 4 kinds of charcuterie, potatoes, a few veggies and a salad. It was my first time trying it. I was surprised by the taste of the cheese. It was pungent and yet addictive. This is for cheese lovers! But it's very heavy and filling especially with the unlimited bread that comes with it. I also wished there were pickles on the plate and not just a salad. It would have helped a lot. We also got the Osso busco and boar chop. I wasn't expecting to taste the Chinese five spice in the sauce of the boar dish and the meat had an interesting texture. The osso busco wasn't completely traditional either and it came with gniocci that were a bit too firm. They were generous portions but not the most traditional and delicious. Overall, it was a new and interesting experience. The service and ambiance were great!

We have been to La Raclette many times and it is one of my family's favourite restaurants in the city. The restaurant's is named after the shareable Swiss dish of melted raclette cheese served with various meats (e.g. viande séchée), potatoes and other vegetables, and pickles (cornichons). However, the restaurant is so much more than the raclette -- we always order their other various menu items that change seasonally. This weekend we also had the beef tartare and shrimp cocktail to start, as well as the pork Schnitzel and New Brunswick black cod as mains, all excellent as per usual. We had the chocolate cake and hot chocolate dome for dessert, which were amazing and is no surprise since the very talented chef is also a trained patisserie. The outdoor terrace is also a very romantic in the summer. In September, we booked the restaurant for a private party to celebrate our marriage as the restaurant can be booked for private parties of about 60-80 people. The event went amazingly well, we were extremely pleased with how the event was planned and executed by both the management team and the chef, who also created our amazing tiered wedding cake. So many of our guests complimented the food and we were happy to share our favourite restaurant. La Raclette might not come up as a trendy Montreal restaurant, but as avid restaurant patrons to many various restaurants in the city we consider this spot a not-so-known secret spot. There is a reason the restaurant has endured years of operations, and we are happy to share this place with others. La Raclette is highly recommended.

Was here yesterday for date night with significant other. It was a very pleasant restaurant. The staff was very friendly, the food was great, the price is on par for a BYOB with sitting of 60min+.

Looks like most reviews are criticizing the size of the portion for the raclette. But we had the cheese fondue, with potage and a shared desert. We were full, the portion was great i.e. just enough to feel like a walk would be great but not too full that you feel sick.

My tips and tricks:

-It's $100 for a couple, you will spend 60min+ and it's BYOB. That is a reasonable price.

-Don't do fondue in general if you are in a hurry, it is not the right type of restaurant for a bite before a play or any other event with fixed starting time (looking at you stressed out blond lady at the table next to us)

-It gets hot and cheesy. If you run hot like me, wear short sleeve. The opened flames heats up the place. Also you will smell like food, if you have plans after you might want to bring extra clothes. You might want to leave your coat in the car. It doesn't smell too strong as they don't have oil fondue.

-The vegetarian plate for the cheese fondue was a bit disappointing. For the same price you get a bit more potatoes and broccoli. If you are a vegetarian party that will work. In our case my SO is vegetarian but I'm not. I should have just taken her charcuterie instead or ordering vegetarian for her.

Overall I think this place...
