I can’t say one bad thing about this place! A group of us were visiting Montréal for a little vacation and naturally we had been dining and a bunch of restaurants but I have to say our experience at W&G’s absolutely stood out.
Customer Service 🌟🌟🌟 10/5 - Literally have no words. A personal thank you to Florence and Jade for making our last dinner in Montréal the best one. We were one of their last tables for the night and even toward the ends of their shifts, they both brought the energy, were incredibly sweet, and super accommodating. It was one of our friends’ birthdays and Florence was awesome at keeping it on the low 🤣 They suggested birthday BJ shots which were so fun - and absolutely hilarious to do. Kudos to these two girls because they are SO good at what they do.
The food was DELICIOUS. My boyfriend and I shared the arancini, burrata ni bruschetta, the funghi pasta entrée that had wild mushrooms (and we chose farfalle), and of course the tiramisu as our dessert.
Arancini ⭐️ 4.5/5 - Didn’t blow my mind but it was a great appetizer! Arancini is my boyfriend’s fave. I enjoyed it too! It came out warm and crunchy on the outside, creamy perfectly cooked risotto on the inside. Served on red sauce with fresh parm and basil. I do wish it came out hotter though! But admittedly we were a group of 8 people so they might have needed some time to put out all the apps - which is understandable. :)
Burrata ni bruschetta 🌟5/5 - Now this appetizer blew our minds.. Seems so simple but the cooks achieved THE PERFECT composition of texture and flavour with this app. Creamy burrata served on toasted crostini topped with drizzles of honey & balsamic, crushed pistachios and fresh basil. It was TO DIE FOR. We could’ve EASILY finished one plate each. 😅 I’m not vegetarian but highly recommend to those who are. Such an amazing veg option and it won’t fill you up too much before the entrée.
Funghi di bosco w/ farfalle 🌟 5/5 - Another simple though perfectly executed dish. I am VERY particular with my pasta and the cooks most definitely killed it with this one. At W&G’s, you have the option to select one of their recipes and pick the type of fresh pasta you want it to be prepared with. The plate came out piping hot - which I loveeee. The fresh pasta is certainly fresh, cooked perfectly al dente. Plenty of mushroom and the cream sauce wasn’t heavy at all.
Tiramisu ⭐️ 3.5/5 - The tiramisu was tasty. It was definitely soggier than what I’m accustomed to/what I prefer?? I usually like a fluffier, creamier tiramisu. I did like that they weren’t heavy-handed with the alcohol! And it had a moderate-strength coffee flavour (I do prefer stronger though but totally personal preference). And it wasn’t overly sweet at all. It was a nice portion to share between my partner and I. A pleasant way to end the dinner since we were already so full! However, I’d probably go for a different dessert next time.
Montréal Mule 🌟 5/5 - Who doesn’t love a good mule?! This was so nice and refreshing to have alongside all the food.
1000% WOULD COME...

In depth review:
Ambiance:
The space is warm and stylish, with a cozy bistro feel and plenty of seating. While it’s large, it never felt too noisy, and we were able to enjoy a peaceful meal upstairs. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between lively and intimate.
Drinks:
My cousin had a Long Island Iced Tea ($11.30), which he liked for its well-balanced mix, while I went for an Italian Pinot Grigio ($11.25). Both drinks were refreshing and paired well with our food, setting the tone for a relaxing evening.
Food:
We started with the calamari ($23), which was light and crispy with two great dipping sauces. For my main, I had the Ravioli alla Gavino ($24)—the ricotta and spinach filling was creamy and delicious, though I’d have liked a bit more seasoning. My cousin’s Fettuccini Carbonara ($25) was the highlight of the meal: perfectly cooked pasta in a rich, smoky sauce.
Service:
The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Our server was knowledgeable, and the meal was paced perfectly, allowing us to enjoy every bite without feeling rushed.
Value for Money:
At just over $100 for both of us, the prices felt fair for the quality of the food and the experience. The portions were generous, and the overall meal...
Read moreWienstein & Gavino’s restaurant is a spacious, vintage, and cozy place. The atmosphere is great and cozy. As it was the middle of the week, I did not expect seeing many people but the place was almost full. We had a book at 6:15 pm. The staff was welcoming and I was seated. The service was fast enough. They offer a baguette with olive and vinegar which is a combination I love. I suggest putting them in a bowl rather than a plate so nothing would be spilled. I asked for the waitress recommendation and she recommended the breaded veal over two other meals and I took her recommendation. My friend ordered pasta. My plate has spaghetti with pesto sauce and some pine seeds which are great together but the sauce was so oily and the spaghetti was tasteless (needs some salt, pepper, & some spices to enrich the flavours. The breaded veal was marinated with tomato sauce but I could not taste the veal well as it was tasteless for me too. I asked the waitress what kind of alcoholic drinks she recommends as I feel nasal congestion and she laughed and mocked me saying “I am not a doctor”. I was like yeah I know but I am asking if you know any drink that has ginger, lemon, hot spices, etc. Then, she recommended hot whiskey with honey and I took it and it was good. I heard a lot about the place and I was longing to try it but my first experience was not wow as I expected and the food did not meet my expectations (minus two stars for the food and the way the waitress took my question as it was embarrassing for me). However, it is a nice place to chill and enjoy your time eating...
