Hello world! It’s inspiring already the moment you enter the restaurant, nestled in the backdrop of Montreal's Old Port, this exceptional sushi establishment transcends the ordinary dining experience. The atmosphere envelops you in an aura of elegance and tranquility, complemented by attentive yet unobtrusive service. Great impeccable service from Brian, great aura, the confidence, very personable, and Donnahue “Donna” thank you, it shows she cares about her job, embodying what Yubari is, high-class and exclusivity… A great smile too! The meticulously curated menu showcases an exquisite array of traditional and innovative dishes, each a testament to the artistry of Japanese cuisine. I say “Bravo!” to the chefs, kisses to the chefs, they are exemplifying their dedication to serve excellence of each bites. Let’s be honest, is it overpriced? Absolutely highway robbery, but it’s not their fault, it’s only yours! Even if you just want to get ripped off and impress your date (you better hope the night ends just how you are imagining it for the price you’re going to pay) eating the same California roll just as the same as Joe Blow down the street, be my guest. Having said that, be a pro, accept your losses, shake your head in disbelief and take another sip of your cocktail, it’ll make the seduction process less repugnant. Listen, the dish arrives at the table, you will be in awe, the presentation is nothing short of artistic, transforming each dish into a visual masterpiece, see photos… Right?! Not only a feast for the palate but also for the eyes. Yubari is a sanctuary for sushi aficionados and novices alike, promising an unparalleled gastronomic journey that is as intellectually stimulating as it is delightfully indulgent. I honestly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a sophisticated MASTERPIECE EXPERIENCE in a truly private and intimate setting. Yubari is not for the fainted heart, if you’re Dave Chappelle in “Half baked” this is not the joint for you!

A Culinary Gem in Montreal: Yubari Yubari is an unforgettable journey into the heart of Japanese culinary excellence. It's been years since I last encountered fish this fresh; the only comparable experience was in Japan itself. The exquisite quality of their seafood speaks volumes about their dedication to authenticity and excellence. What truly sets Yubari apart is their unique variety of prime-quality fish, skillfully paired with creative ingredients and presented with artistic precision. Each dish is a testament to the unmatched talent of their sushi chef, Marcelo, whose craftsmanship elevates every piece of sushi into a work of art. From the melt-in-your-mouth makis to the impeccable nigiris, every bite at Yubari is a symphony of flavors and textures. And the experience doesn’t stop at the sushi. The bar is helmed by the exceptional bartender, Patrick, whose mastery over mixology is nothing short of impressive. Every drink is crafted to perfection, adding another layer of delight to the dining experience. Other remarkable aspect about Yubari is their seamless operation. You can feel the harmony and positivity radiating between the staff, chefs, and management, creating an inviting and vibrant atmosphere that enhances every moment spent there. While Montreal is home to several great sushi spots, none quite compare to Yubari's level of sophistication and quality. It’s truly a must-visit for anyone craving an unparalleled Japanese dining experience. Bravo to the entire Yubari team—you’ve set a new standard of excellence!

After a year since its big, lavish opening party, we were excited to finally check it out for ourselves. However, what we found left us a bit confused. We started with a couple of sushi rolls, which were decent but didn’t justify their high price tag. The octopus was well-cooked, with admittedly creative flavors, yet it still fell a little flat. The standout item for us was the mini wagyu burger, which had a taste and quality that surpassed everything else we sampled. We joked that they should consider opening a burger joint (seriously, do it; I’d come to that). They also offer a variety of additional items like dumplings, fried rice, and various entrées and meats. The lively atmosphere, complete with a DJ and leopard-print banquettes, gave off a vibe more suited for a nightlife spot than a restaurant focused on quality cuisine. The decor featured some nice Japanese-inspired touches, like a bonsai tree, but the combination of higher-class restaurant pricing, an underwhelming and scattered menu, and a nightlife vibe made the whole thing feel misaligned. Even their website emphasizes a visual experience over taste, and unfortunately, that was reflected in our visit. It seems they are more focused on the experience than delivering exceptional food, which is a critical miss for a restaurant of this caliber in that area. While we still enjoyed our time on some level, and the service was very quick and friendly, we feel they need to find a clearer direction in both their offerings and priorities.

After years of struggling to find truly exceptional service in Montreal's dining scene, Yubari Sushi has completely restored my faith in what a restaurant experience can be. From the moment we walked through the doors, we were treated to a level of hospitality that goes far beyond the ordinary.

Outstanding Service from Top to Bottom The evening began with our hostess, whose name started with a T (I don't want to mispronounce it, but she deserves all the recognition). What initially seemed like standard greeting quickly revealed itself as something extraordinary. This woman, who I later discovered was actually the director, went above and beyond in every possible way. Her accommodating nature and genuine care for our dining experience was refreshing and rare, particularly in Montreal where exceptional service can be surprisingly hard to come by. Our waitress Lena was equally remarkable. She took the time to walk us through each dish with genuine enthusiasm and expertise, explaining not just what we were ordering, but how each item was prepared. Her knowledge of their unique sake selection was impressive, and she thoughtfully guided us through pairings that perfectly complemented our sushi choices. Throughout the entire meal, Lena remained incredibly attentive – our glasses were never empty, and she seemed to anticipate our needs before we even realized them ourselves.

The Food: Simply Outstanding I started with the Wagyu slider, which was absolutely phenomenal. The quality of the beef was evident in every bite, perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. My wife's ceviche was equally impressive – fresh, vibrant, and beautifully balanced with just the right amount of acidity and seasoning. The main course of sushi was, quite simply, to die for. Each piece was a masterclass in flavor and technique, with the fish melting in our mouths and the rice perfectly seasoned and textured. But what truly surprised us was their fried rice – this wasn't your typical side dish. It was incredibly well-seasoned and flavorful, easily standing on its own as a highlight of the meal.

Atmosphere and Experience Adding to the already exceptional evening was the lively atmosphere created by their DJ, who kept the energy perfect throughout our meal. The music selection created a vibrant backdrop without overwhelming conversation, striking that difficult balance that so many restaurants struggle with. What made the experience even more special was having the director check on us personally during our meal. This level of care from management is rare and shows how much this establishment values their guests' experience.

Yubari Sushi is an absolute gem in Montreal's restaurant scene. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation – you won't regret it. Between Lena's exceptional service, the director's personal touch, the outstanding food quality, and the perfect atmosphere, this restaurant has set a new standard for what dining out should be. We are definitely coming back, and I can't recommend this place highly enough. In a city where great service can be elusive, Yubari proves that exceptional hospitality and incredible food can absolutely coexist. Highly recommended for: Date nights, special occasions, sushi lovers, anyone seeking exceptional service Price range: Premium (worth every penny) Reservations:...

Nestled in the heart of the city, Yubari Restaurant is a hidden gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you step inside, the warm ambiance and elegant decor invite you to indulge in a culinary journey that beautifully marries tradition with innovation.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere at Yubari is both inviting and sophisticated. Soft lighting, coupled with tasteful art and comfortable seating, creates a perfect backdrop for a romantic dinner or a gathering with friends. The gentle hum of conversation combined with soft music sets a relaxed tone, making it easy to lose track of time.

Service

The service at Yubari is impeccable. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, offering recommendations and ensuring that every need is met. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and eager to share insights about the ingredients and preparation methods, enhancing our overall experience.

Food

The highlight of any visit to Yubari is undoubtedly the food. The menu is a delightful fusion of traditional Japanese flavors and contemporary culinary techniques. We started with the Yubari Sashimi Platter, which featured the freshest fish, beautifully presented.

For the main course, I opted for the Miso Glazed Black Cod. It was perfectly cooked, with a rich, buttery texture that melted in my mouth. The accompanying seasonal vegetables added a lovely crunch, balancing the dish beautifully. My dining companion chose the Yubari Ramen, which was a comforting bowl of rich broth, tender noodles, and perfectly cooked eggs, all topped with vibrant green onions..

Conclusion

Yubari Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates fine dining. With its exquisite food, attentive service, and charming atmosphere, it’s no wonder this place has quickly become one of my favorites. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or a newcomer to Japanese cuisine, Yubari offers something for everyone. Don’t miss the chance to experience this...
