Sundowner — Restaurant in Niagara Falls

This was the first club i ever been to and well wasn’t good at all. WATCH OUT FOR CANDY AND CHANEL THEY WILL RINSE YOUR WALLET AND SCAM YOU!!!

i get there with a few buddies and almost instantly a couple girls come up fine yeah, they then drag me downstairs and keep asking for more money. started off as $300 for 30 minutes then we get down and suddenly the price is $600. being my first time i wasn’t trying to get my teeth kicked in by security and ruin the night for my boys so i pay up, they dance for 4 minutes and leave. $600 for 4 minutes?

so my buddy told a waitress what happened and she was very nice i wish i had her name, but she got the manager for me and helped sort things out. now for the manager he was very nice about the situation and got my money back and handled it professionally, checked the cameras made sure i was being honest and was on my side throughout the situation.

the second dancer i had didn’t try to scam me or get more money, i wish i had her name aswell because she deserves praise and told me that Candy and Chanel are NOTORIOUS for stealing/scamming but other than that she gave me a proper experience.

even the manager said to Candy and Chanel that it was the last straw.

the third dancer i had started off good, i paid upfront plus a tip for just a dance and made it clear that was all i wanted, she danced for about 2-3 minutes. she then stopped while my on my lap and started having a conversation and i tried to leave after my dance which she wouldn’t let me, she tried to unbuckle my pants, which i had stopped her multiple times by pulling her hands away, which turned into a bigger argument because i said i wanted only a dance and nothing more. she was VERY intoxicated and she kept trying to take my pants down after stopping her a good 3-5 times, she said i now owed her $250 when all she did was sit on my lap and talk/argue with me for an hour while the entire time i was trying to stand up and leave, but she wouldn’t let me as everytime i tried to stand up and move her off me and she wouldn’t get off and kept me in the room by blocking the doorway and pushing me back onto the seat. this turned into her arguing more for money, and actually started SHOVING me to the ATM to get money out for her. which makes no sense because i got less than a full dance and an hour of hearing drunken arguing why i owe her $250 because i stopped her from going in my pants when i made it VERY clear i only wanted a single dance. i was already ripped off BIG early in the night and each time i said i was going to talk to the manager she would grab me again and pull/shove me back towards the ATM… this time i didn’t end up paying the extra because i was not going to be scammed twice and in no world am i paying $250 for a dancer to sit on my lap to talk and argue with me . i would’ve stayed with my ex for free if that was the case. lots of the girls here will try to scam you so beware, only a couple are nice.

. this is not what i thought a club like this would be like, i went to have fun and ended up being scammed, and having to be stuck arguing with a very drunk dancer for over an hour when all i wanted was to leave.

the bartenders, waitresses and a couple dancers were amazing. the rest of the night was honestly a waste for me. the managers i spoke to were good but overall was a horrible night and wish i spent...

I am sad to report that in my opinion the era of the Sundowner is over. Our last experience at the "Downer" was so sad and depressing, we think the place should be closed for good. It was as the name implies – a downer!

Let me break it down for you.

I have been coming to the Sundowner for close to 30 years. I can’t tell you how many bachelor parties and good times I have had at the place. I am married for almost 20 years now and the most fun I have had was when my younger, adventurous, fun, and smoking hot wife started to tag along.

Recently my wife and I went up on a Thursday. (And I hope future reviewers list the day of the week you go because that might be part of the reason you have a good or bad time there). I have been in strip clubs all over the US and Canada. I always felt that the Sundowner was the one strip club that all others should be measured against. However, in the last 10 years, the place seemed to be on a serious decline. This trip led us to believe it is game over for this establishment.

First, there was NO energy. The vibe was like a funeral. I did not see one smiling face. Twenty minutes in and I wanted to head out because the place was a shell of what it once was. Second, and I hate to do this, but the quality of dancers was very, very poor. The initial dancer was so out of place – older and extremely obese – that my wife and I were embarrassed. We could not watch her. We had to look away and instead order our drinks. I hate to criticize the quality of dancers because what I like might not be what you like. However, I think we would all agree on certain basic standards. There were also more dancers closer to our age than I would have expected. The Sundowner used to be known for model quality, beautiful woman. In the past, the girls were European, Canadian, American, young, middle aged, and really something for everyone. We were the only ones sitting near the stage and tipping the dancers. No one seemed to care. My wife made me sit there for close to two hours and not one dancer – not even the ones who we tipped generously stopped over to even chat with us or offer us a table dance. To be honest, I was sort of glad because I did not find even one dancer to be attractive or worth our time. We were there to spend money. We never came home from the Sundowner with so much.

Finally, about an hour and a half in, I flagged down a worker and asked her what was going on. She knew exactly what I was talking about. She did not require further explanation. She told us that the place has not been the same since COVID. We agreed though we had never seen it that bad. She told us that the place never gets as busy as it used to be and that it does not pick up until 11:30 to 1 AM. Hmm… In the past, the place always had a line out the door by 9 PM. What a change!

We left unfulfilled and heartbroken knowing that the sun has set on the Downer. Unfortunately, that will be our last trip up. I hate that our relationship with the Sundowner ended with such a bad memory.

I’ve been coming to this club on and off for over 20 years. Back then, it was a great place to hangout, grab a few drinks, and enjoy the atmosphere. I’m not really into strippers or dancing, but I always liked the energy of the club.

After being away for a couple of years, I decided to check it out again last night. I sat near the stage and grabbed a couple shots, ordered a drink, and just watched. I’m an observer. Love people watching. And what I saw left me pretty disappointed.

Every dancer who came off stage stopped by my table, said hello, and tried to engage. But right beside me, there were three tables full of brown guys, three different groups, and they were completely ignored all night. These guys weren’t causing problems, they had stacks of cash on the table, clearly ready to spend but the dancers wouldn’t even look their way. It was like they weren’t welcome. The club doesn’t want their cover charge, the bartender doesn’t want to serve them, and the strippers don’t want to touch them.

I always thought strip clubs were one of those rare places where everyone left their baggage at the door and just came to enjoy themselves. But what I saw last night proved otherwise. The room was about 95% brown crowd, and the dancers only focused on the rest of us 5%. The brown guys were avoided on purpose.

It was uncomfortable to watch. After sitting there for three hours, my takeaway is simple, don’t waste your time here. Save your money and your dignity if fall in that category.

Being a bar owner myself, I understand the cause and effect of mass immigration, the shifts in atmosphere. But at the end of the day, a club like this should be about energy, respect, and fun for everyone. Unfortunately, the atmosphere I saw was divided and that kills the whole vibe of the place and experience since 95% of the crowd was dull silent...
