I have been coming to this location for a while now when coming down South to visit family. My friends and I love the sushi here, but unfortunately I cannot give it a full five stars. (This review is about their all you can eat style of service.)
While the service is extremely quick, even when they are very busy, they often completely forget items that you have ordered. We would often order an item three or four different times, and never get it, or only get it on the third order. If they could just let us know that they are running low, or completely out of an item, that would be great. Then we wouldn't have to keep trying over and over again to see if we can finally get it; which is extremely annoying.
The other problem with the service is when you order items, they often do not give you what you ask for. We never have a table under five people, and often have tables of up to eight when we go. So when we order 2-3 edamame, 2-3 beef/chicken teriyaki, and 2-3 calamari (among other things), only getting one single order (that is maybe just a teeny tiny bit bigger than normal), just does not cut it. We want plates for the whole table to share. Multiple. Plates. It is frustrating and annoying, and we have gotten to the point of putting in several orders multiple times to bypass this, which shouldn't be an issue. If a table of six people orders two calamari, bring out two plates of calamari, it is just that simple.
My favourite sushi roll in the past has been the spicy crab roll. Unfortunately, they have changed it. Rather than shredded crab meat mixed with the spice, it is just a solid piece of crab (obviously it is not real crab). The problem with this is that a large piece of solid fake crab just does not taste the same or have the same texture as the previous iteration of the roll. It is sub par in every way, with each roll often having a different level of spice. This applies to all of their spicy rolls now it seems. You are spinning a wheel on whether or not you will get something without any spice or taste at all, or if you are going to get enough spice to burn your mouth. It is a real shame.
While I do really like this location, I absolutely hate the parking situation. It is the worst thing about BOTH locations. An expanded parking lot of some kind, or expanded street parking. Something, anything, to solve the issue would be much appreciated, but it has been years and they do not seem to want, or be able to, fix the situation. Even if you call ahead and make reservations, as we always do, that doesn't mean that parking will be available. Having expanded the restaurant to have more seating has caused a crisis with the cars outside.
This has also caused another problem, noise. The noise levels inside of the restaurant are almost intolerable. I will be sitting right next to my friends, and they will have to shout for me to be able to hear what they are saying. I have never had this problem with any other sushi restaurant I have been to. Is it all of the tourists? I don't know, but if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere to eat in, or even just a regular noisy dinner spot, this isn't it. The noise levels are extreme.
Those are the reasons why I have given it four stars on food, atmosphere, and service, as well as just a regular four star review. I wish I could give it five, as the service here is very fast, and the food is very good; but...
Read moreWe have come to Niagara Falls every year for the past 8 years now. Dining at Wind is definitely one of the highlights of our visit to NF. We always try to dine at Wind as much as we can because we always have amazingly positive experiences here.
The food! It's amazing that even though it is all you can eat - it is not tacky like many other AYCE or Buffet places (heres looking at you Mandarin Chinese Buffet). Every dish is meticulously prepared and served individually, inviting you to whet your appetite on the presentations before taking a bite where the flavors complement the visual of the dish.
We love the sushi, hand rolls, and tempuras, but their menu extended beyond the Japanese Cuisine. Their Southeast Asian dish are pretty authentic too - ranging from varieties of curries to tantalizing soup such as Tom Yum soup. My favorite is definitely Chicken Pad Thai, where it comes with a large wedge of lemon, allowing you to customize the sourness to your liking. My significant other love their salmon mini "pizza" is essentially salmon or variety of topping on a piece of crispy crunchy mini tater crowns! They even have steamed buns and dimsum available on the menu if you really want to deviate from the regular Thai and Japanese.
The price point - admittingly is PERFECT. I hope that they dont raise their price after seeing my review but for all the cornucopia of amazing food - its actually quite cheap compared to other eatery in Niagara Falls where an average per person would be higher than what you pay in any other restaurants. It is no surprise to see plenty of people of diverse backgrounds here - it has awesome food, amazing prices, and the ambiance is super relaxing and modern! You can actually get some interesting mix of alcoholic drinks here - some with a twist of asian flavor, which is always adventurous and exciting! It's definitely a place where anyone can enjoy anything here with all those thoughtful and diverse food and drinks offering here.
We come here every year for a few years now, and it's amazing how the staff here always remember us. Helen, the manager, here will come to us (and many other guests - we noticed) and effusively greet us by name. Jane (shhh, we love her) is almost like a friend. Mei, who is really gentle and sweet, Chris, a nice fellow whom we just met today and Jayden - also new to us - all and all these are really nice people among many others that work here. I am usually kind of shy on all the attention that were meted on me but it is undeniable that these wonderful people are not just ultra friendly, but they are genuine and really dedicated to what they were doing. It is amazing how accomodating they were - sometimes if you are lucky - will be accompanied by the robot server that would bring your birthday cake with sparkles while the staff enthusiastically sang you a birthday song.
5 stars all the way! Their offerings - location, service, and food wise - excel beyond our expectations. I wish that we have places like this where we live. Can't wait to come back. Kudos to...
Read moreWhat a great restaurant to eat at. If you like Japanese and Thai cuisine than THIS should be and will be your go-to restaurant. The atmosphere of this restaurant is so relaxing. The staff are wonderful and quick, everything about this restaurant is so great. Personal experience: the last time I went to Wind, my fiance and I got there maybe half an hour before it was closing. Now, we said to ourselves that they are very quick after you place an order so it should be no problem. It was just is two at a table and a family at the booths and tables beside us. Now if you have never been here before, the food ordering system they have is so cool and should be used by other places. They try not to waste much. If you want a spring roll or chicken wing, etc.. you place an order for a spring order and you only get one on a plate. Anyways, my fiance and I placed our orders and we started to receive our food. By the time the third plate came to our table we knew we ordered to much. They do not provide take home containers so when my fiance went to the bathroom I went up to the lady (who was watching us eat and just laughed. Now we have plates on the railings beside our table), and I asked her if there was any way that I could pay extra to take our food to go and she did it for us. We still laugh at that night. She was so kind about it and we just felt bad for the staff who started longer to make our food. It was worth every dollar that was spent and I would do it all over again. Wind is a remarkable restaurant and I am so happy I got introduced to this place. It is my number one restaurant to go to in Niagara Falls. It is a buffet style restaurant but you order your food from a tablet. When you order your food, a server comes to the table and presses something which than send it directly to the chef in the kitchen. I just never been to a restaurant like this one before so I was so excited to eat there and now, I can't get enough of this place! It's a very nice restaurant, stylish, and has a very calm feel to it when you step inside. Lastly, I think they have a robot that serves tables too, like the Mandarin but because we went to late last time, we didn't see it moving around. Thank you for everything you do. You are all so WONDERFUL. This is the best Japanese Restaurant to ever go to. You will not regret going here!! You will fall in love just like I have. There is nothing to not love about...
