Located in North Vancouver, Minemura Sushi boasts an elegant ambiance and promises a delightful culinary experience. However, my recent visit left much to be desired, prompting me to reconsider my recommendations.
Firstly, I was taken aback by the restaurant's stringent payment policy. Despite receiving a gift card for Christmas, I was informed upon arrival that Minemura Sushi does not accept gift cards—a baffling oversight for a contemporary establishment. This refusal to accommodate a common form of payment resulted in an immediate deduction of one star from my review.
As I delved into my meal, it became evident that the quality of produce fell short of expectations. The avocado, a staple ingredient in sushi, appeared lackluster and unappetizing. It's a basic principle: if it doesn't meet the standards of the kitchen, it shouldn't find its way onto customers' plates. This disregard for quality warranted another star deduction.
Furthermore, the attention to detail in the presentation of the sushi rolls left much to be desired. The uneven distribution of sesame seeds on one of the rolls resulted in an unpleasant taste imbalance, detracting from what should have been a harmonious flavor profile. This oversight, while seemingly minor, significantly impacted my dining experience, leading to the deduction of yet another star.
In summary, my experience at Minemura Sushi merits a modest two-star rating. Despite its upscale ambiance, the lack of flexibility in payment options, subpar produce quality, and inconsistencies in presentation leave much room for improvement. With numerous sushi establishments in the vicinity, I would advise exploring alternative dining options for a more...
Read moreAVOID THIS RESTAURANT!!! MY GOOD ADVICE TO ALL!!!!!! First about food quality and packaging: i'll give 3 stars for that and for service 0. Read below! I wish there would have been 0 star policy, because these guys do not deserve even 1 star rating. Extremely rude behaviour of the young lady(idk the name). I'll explain why 0 stars: There were 5-6 customers and 3-4 delivery drivers from courier services in the que and everyone was talking that they are standing there for almost 20-30 mins waiting for there order. I went there and asked the guy for the order, the restaurant guys even did not look on my order which i ordered 1 hours ago. The guy politely asked me to wait 5- 10 mins, i said ok. After 35 minutes of wait I said, I have been waiting for long and suddenly Young lady started that "WE ARE BUSY HERE AND HAVE SO MANY ORDERS!!!" in a extremely rude way with bad face. And after that chef gave me a hard look. This is for the first time I have seen such a service. See this is a thing, your service is realized when you are under pressure and these guys come on customers for their own pressure.. Sushi was okay but customer service -5.. Just because of this behaviour I will not go to this restaurant and i'll post it to my friends and family to avoid this restaurant at all cost. There are so many competitors like JL Sushi, Yuko Maki who are far better than this place and they only call you to pick your order when it's...
Read moreFinally found our go-to in LoLo… Unafraid to share my glowing review, because it’s such a brutal world for good restaurants out here. Photos have a couple pieces eaten.. we couldn’t wait!
We walked in at 6pm right before the rush. There’s inside seating for maybe 24 people inside, and a couple tables outside. The inside decor is more casual and homey than slick and refined, so you know you’re paying for taste and the chefs’ skills rather than flash. And the prices were solid - we stuffed ourselves silly for $80 total after tip.
The server was very friendly and welcoming, even while we had to ask her to correct the order, and our food arrived in less time than it took for us to decide on what to order.
Really loved the attention to detail, including generous and fresh salmon and tuna sashimi, right rice texture and temp, warm and crispy yam tempura along with a great variety in the veggie roll including oshinko, carrot, cuke, spinach and avo, buttery negitoro roll, and the tamago shining through in the Lady roll.
The hands-down showstopper of the night was the Dancing Unagi roll. I’ve never had such meltingly-tender, lovingly-torched crisp unagi and fresh and plump shrimp tempura together in one balanced, moreish bite. Not to mention the rice to filling ratio of all the rolls was perfect.
My only regret is not seeing a dessert menu.. a little cup of yuzu sorbet would have been the...
