2018 Date night with my special man. Our first time at Mythos Taverna. We enjoy Greek cuisine and have been in search of our new favourite Green restaurant. The search is over. We had a delightful dining experience at Mythos. The place is fresh and feels like you are in Greece. The staff was all very friendly and attentive. We had a great table and decided to order the platter to sample a variety of their offerings. From the humous & tzatziki to the saganaki, calamari, spanikopita, greek salad and the roast lamb. It was all delicious. We were pleasantly full but without that bloated yucky feeling if regret after a big meal. The ingredients are quality. ••••••• UPDATE We called ahead and made a Friday night reservation for 5 to celebrate a birthday. This is our go-to for delicious Greek. So we are aware how busy Mythos can get. Happily, our table awaited our arrival. Our server is a lovely young lady we often get helping us. She's efficient and very friendly. Superb at pumping lively energy into the experience. My son just told me that "she was so nice and should get a raise". We ordered the Symposium for the table. We'll worth the price. We always leave feeling satisfied and have leftovers to enjoy the following day. Five hungry patron's and EVERYONE was delighted with the meal. The food is delicious. Each course a delightful enjoyment The hummus is a favourite. The potatoes and the lamb are unmatched. The only letdown was that there wasn't a little something special to recognize the birthday we were celebrating. But that was ok. 5 stars. We'll be back

The restaurant appearance itself is very delightful. It has a lot of plants, and Greek designs with soft Greek music, and music of the region. Some of their food is very delicious, some of it is a little overpriced. The service is also mediocre (hence the 3 stars, I would give 3.5 if I could). The sever was not knowledgeable at all, and although it was not busy, she struggled to accommodate us. I asked some basic questions about the specials, and various dishes and she couldn't really give much of an answer. I asked about what beers or wines I should pair with my lamb, and this was drawn blank. Food: The first picture is the oil and vinegar for the bread with an appetizer called Spanikopita (baked pastry with feta and spinach). This is delicious! The second picture is what I ordered, the lamb shank. It was good, but high price for the quality. My girlfriend ordered the lamb chops, and I highly recommend them. They were juicy and crispy, simply mouth watering and worth the price. I believe, as it is a larger piece of meat, the shank was at fault because it lacked marination. It was dryer than I expected for a piece of lamb. Lastly, it was my birthday, and my girlfriend mentioned it in the reservation. I don't expect much but it would be nice to get something special, even if it's small! Overall, my experience was positive, with some room for improvement.

Recently, Mythos took over Passparos at this location and I admit I was sad to see the stalwart of Third Street assume a new name. I was a huge fan of both, considering them my top picks for authentic Greek food in the city. It was a joy to learn the blending of the two kitchens has worked successfully at the launch of the new venture early 2018. The restaurant, a home converted to a restaurant has undergone a revamp; lighter and brighter inside with few upgrades, yet still homey with the trademark blending of indoor and outdoor spaces. The staff are hand-picked for their professional warmth and knowledge of the menu, always adding a helpful suggestion and appearing table side at just the right moment to refill a water glass or answer any questions. Kudos to Mythos for hiring some of the city's best staff who obviously love what they do. They never make me feel rushed and they make dining here one of my favorite experiences, every time. Mythos Calamari is some of the best in the city; hot, crispy outside, fresh and juicy inside. My personal favorite dish is the Moussaka stuffed with beef, eggplant, potato and creamy, rich Bechamel sauce. The Combo Platters are a fantastic option for sharing; heaped with lots of variety and generous with delicious sides. I've been hard pressed not to come home with enough left for a substantial meal the next day! The wine selection plays well with the food and the selection, while not huge, offers something for nearly every palette. If you feel daring, try a small glass of Retsina; it's unique to each Greek locale and a bit of an acquired taste but its so right with the flavours on the menu. Leave a little room for dessert! Share one of the kitchens fresh creations made on site. The filo pastries are lashed with honey and nuts. Their seasonal cheesecake is creamy and rich, often topped with fresh fruit compote. If you are considering one of their specialty desserts, order it with dinner as it my sell out early. You can always take it home to enjoy later...when you have room. I love to sit at one of the intimate tables for two in the airy atrium room at the front of the building or head outside to bistro tables in the garden when the weather is nice. Surrounded by live, leafy tropical plants and trees nestled behind white stucco walls, slivers of Mediterranean blue peak through the foliage, creating the illusion you're on a mini vacation in a land a thousands of miles away. There is virtually no evidence of the bustling North Vancouver street beyond. If you bring a large group, reserve a table in the cozy interior and dine among photos of Greece and handmade souvenirs collected over many years by those who call it their first or second home. The background music adds to the ambience; tasteful and never overwhelming no matter where you sit. If you arrive early, sit at the bar for a view of the bustling, focused kitchen where the aromas will tempt your tastebuds. It can get busy so reservations are recommended if you arrive during the dinner hour but there is usually room if you arrive right at opening or on a quieter day, early in the week. I consider this one of my favorite date night restaurants when we've a hearty appetite and a great spot to celebrate some of...

Service With a Smile – Heartfelt Celebrations at Mythos

After many years, I returned to Mythos for one of my many visits and I’m so glad I did. Formerly located on 18th and Lonsdale, Mythos has since elevated their entire experience, and it truly shows. I’ve now had the pleasure of dining there twice in the past few months for Mother’s Day and most recently for my mom’s birthday and both visits were nothing short of exceptional.

This past Mother’s Day was especially meaningful the first one after the passing of my father and I wanted to take my mom and sister somewhere that felt warm, comforting, and uplifting.

Mythos delivered on every level. The food was fresh, full of flavor, generously portioned, and plated with care the kind of meal you can’t wait to enjoy again the next day. It brought all the comfort of a home-cooked dinner, with the finesse of a professional kitchen.

Booking our reservation by phone was easy and stress-free both times. Raul’s warm, professional tone made it a pleasure, and everything was handled with ease. On Mother’s Day, our server Grace truly stood out: kind, confident, attentive, and always smiling. She made my mom feel special on a day that could have felt heavy, and I’ll always be grateful for that.

Then on July 27, we returned for my mom’s birthday and once again, Mythos made the moment memorable. Our hostess Eleni greeted us with genuine warmth and treated my mom to a delicious birthday celebration that made her feel truly cherished. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was seamless, and the joy was contagious.

It’s clear that the team at Mythos works in harmony from the kitchen to the bar to the front of house, everyone is happy, present, and clearly proud of what they do. You can feel the care, not just in the food, but in the atmosphere and service.

If you’re looking for a place that offers more than just a great meal a place where memories are made, and guests are treated like family. Mythos is a true gem on 3rd and Lonsdale.

Thank you to the entire team for making both Mother’s Day and my mom’s birthday unforgettable.

We’ll be back soon.

Tasty to the...
