My partner and I had been meaning to check out Coffee Villain for a while, and today we finally made it overāthough a bit later in the day than planned. We arrived just after 3:30 PM and noticed the shop had already closed. Just as we were about to turn away, a gentleman came running over and kindly opened the doors to greet us.
He let us know they were closed for the day but still asked what we were in the mood for. āSomething iced!ā we said without hesitation. That generous soul turned out to be Paulāthe owner of Coffee Villain.
Paul made us two iced Americanos with absolute precision. Smooth, bold, and perfectly balancedāone of the best weāve had in the city. We also couldnāt resist grabbing a few treats: a ginger molasses cookie and a croissant. Both were fresh, flavorful, and a perfect complement to the drinks.
Not only was the coffee excellent, but the hospitality left an even bigger impression. Itās rare to find someone who goes above and beyond like Paul did. Weāll absolutely be backānext time, a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTucked away on 3rd Ave and Chesterfield, this roastery is a standout for anyone serious about coffee. They hand-roast small batches of carefully sourced beans, and their espresso is expertly crafted - I'm always impressed by the quality and consistency.
What sets them apart is the exceptional freshness of their beans. I regularly buy their Swamp King (a medium roast from Nicaragua), and compared to other high-end local roasters, these beans are remarkably fresh and aromatic. The tasting notes - citrus, hazelnut, and milk chocolate - aren't just marketing hype; you can actually taste these flavors.
The modern atmosphere makes it a good spot to meet a friend over exceptional coffee. Whether you're grabbing your daily espresso or stocking up on beans to take home, this small-batch roastery is doing everything right. Don't let this North Vancouver treasure fly...

Good: coffee and the vibes were good
Bad: we had 30 minutes, we were the only ones in the shop at the moment. Ordered 2 drinks, burrito and a sausageless roll. We were told the wait for food (itās cooked from frozen) will be around 10 min which was not a problem. Unfortunately it took food 20 minutes to get ready.
The sausageless roll was still frozen inside. Not an issue ā we asked for it to be heated more.
The burrito got burned on one side so we ended up with a refund for that.
Back to the sausageless roll ā we had to run (weāve been at the store for 30min at that point) and we got it in the box. Long story short ā it was still frozen inside.
Staff were very apologetic and kind! However, Iām being honest here ā to wait for 30 minutes and not get food that is getting reheated from frozen isā¦...
