Let's start with the positives here because I think it's tacky to just say it was 100% bad experience when it started off. Great. The person in the drive-thru taking my order was quite polite and efficient. The kind lady who took my payment was just as nice. I got a smile and a have a great day. I know sometimes people take that for granted, but I'm quite appreciative of that.
Picking up my order, I was given my drink just fine and the bag a food quickly. Just before I was leaving I realized I forgot to ask for hot mustard. I've never been asked to pay for it in the past but I understand that policy can change. I have a feeling it is more discretionary but again that is internal policy to them. I declined and proceeded to leave and wasn't thinking anything about it.
As soon as I open the bag I was quite thirsty and I realized that they did not include a straw. Yes, just a straw. Now my brain is putting thought into this experience which normally should not have any feelings associated to it. They wanted to charge me for the mustard but could not give me the things I needed which are expected to be included. I also realized that I would end up with dry fries as there was no ketchup in here either. Nor was I offered catch up salt or pepper either. Consistency. He was out the door here. Unfortunately I couldn't turn back and I don't normally like having to complain about these things. Even if I have to go back in. I keep my voice low on purpose because I don't want the attention.
I would have let it go but after the mustard experience I decided to just give them a call to let them know. Though the voice was kind, the manager Jennifer did not offer to rectify anything until I said it was a poor experience and I was going to leave a poor review for the restaurant.
She explained the mustard was a policy but I was just making the mirror point that they were remembering to enforce policy but cannot be consistent in things they do about 10,000 times a day.
I did get the customary quick apology and offer to have a free dessert or something but this is after. I already let her know that I did not have time to come back.
For those reading the review related to the establishment, I do happen to have the call recorded, so if Jennifer claims that I was being disrespectful or any of these facts were not true, please feel free to reach out to me and I will play the conversation.
I don't think I'll be coming back here again and after seeing the 3.4 star review, I realized it was not a good decision to come here.
The food is consistent as McDonald's always is, but based on the service I would not recommend. It's unfortunate for those who we're putting in the effort today and their teammates who have...
Read moreOn October 8th just after 10 am I entered the McDonald's on cross Ave in Oakville. I dont write these things unless its very positive experience, However this experience needs to be shared. I had to kill some time while waiting for my car to be serviced. I went in expecting all-day breakfast but the cashier informed me "they don't DO all day breakfast". So confused, with the understanding the all day breakfast was offered in Canada as of 2017, I had to come up with another option. However I found it difficult when the live menu was only showing breakfast options. I mentioned this to the cashier and she just shrugged her shoulders and refused to change the menu, even though they weren't serving anything on the menu at that time.So I just pieced together some menu items from memory. Long story short, staff had informed other patrons after me that there egg cooker was broken. Which now becomes understandable, but why would the cashier lie about not offering all day breakfast, just explain the egg cookers broken. Lastly I dined in only to find I didn't have any dipping sauce in my bag and my fries were ice cold. So I lined up however once I got to the front to get my sauce the next cashier who I hadn't ordereded from, interrogated me about how if I used my sauce then they wouldn't provide a complimentary one. Not understanding that I never received one in the first place. I had to defend myself in order to get a dipping sauce, I had to point to where I was sitting and prove I just got my food. She repeated herself 3 times about how they wouldn't give me ANOTHER SAUCE. I never got the first one! Really? Is it worth saving the $0.25 when you could be upsetting an already frustrated customer. I write this due to my poor experience at this establishment. This is a cautionary warning the staffs rude, they lie about there policies and they lack any sort of customer service skills. Next time I'll just walk past this place and not even bother. TERRIBLE PLACE and...
Read moreI don't typically expect great service from McDonalds as it is a poorly managed business as a fast-food chain in general but this made me lose all respect for this business as a whole. Workers are underpaid and don't sound pleased to serve you - especially the morning staff who always open late. I've come here a lot because there is not much open in Oakville at 6am to get a quick coffee (even coffee grinds) but they weren't open either although it was posted online. I went back later to see if anyone came to open and got coffee grinds at the bottom of my iced coffee.
They gave me frozen donuts, straight from the freezer, rock hard in baggies instead of a box. Completely careless workers who should probably look for a job they enjoy doing, or at least do it well. I would have no problem not paying for something they don't have ready, I'm sure many McDonalds goers are used to an order wrong, or not having what they want sometimes. The glory of this poorly managed food-chain.
Aside from the coffee, the burger I had was cold surprisingly making me wonder if it was even cooked properly. Would recommend traveling further to go to a real breakfast place like Mo's family diner, although it is pricey you get more for your money and don't have to waste your time or gas on a place that is 99% going to disappoint you. The parking lot is also very small, almost got into accidents here, witnessed one on the way out, decided to stop going for good. No more McDonalds for me. Definitely not Oakville McDonalds.
Whoever runs this place should invest in a new employee training on food-safety and food-handling, especially during COVID the inside of the McDonalds was messy. Employees were arguing and touching their faces and scratching their head all over while standing over my food.
If you crave McDonalds that badly, go...
