Pros • Good price - $18 for lunch • Non sushi items are good Cons • Rude service • Too much rice • You’re expected to eat literally everything
I discovered Mika about 4 years ago. At the time this was one of the best places, bang for your buck wise. Now working in the area, I went twice in the past 2 weeks. I went twice because I thought the first time I went was negative too but I thought it was a one-off and gave them another chance. Evidently, I was wrong. Like many other reviewers that have said, the quality has declined. In both the food and service. The sushi comes with way too much rice and a sliver of fish. As many people do, when there is far too much rice, I removed a portion of bland white rice from each piece so I can enjoy the fish and not fill up on rice. When I did this the waiter passive-aggressively asked, "Is there something wrong with the rice?" I explained that I ordered sushi and was not interested in all the rice and that many places have a much different (more generous) fish/rice ratio in their sushi and I enjoy it as such. He babbled on before walking away and not clearing the extra rice from the table. They seemed overwhelmed by volume of people in the restaurant too as there was loud rage sounding yelling coming from the kitchen and it took forever to get our food. There is a clear disconnect from the area, demographic, and regional competition. Like many other negative reviews of the restaurant these self-righteous owners will reply with a rude comment try to justify to poor service, food quality, or how they believe the culture of all you can eat...
Read moreI have been going to this location for about 14 years now. Has it changed over the years. YES. And it still is really great value for the money and a fully enjoyable dinner out every time.
I just went this Sunday for a birthday celebration. We had called and made reservations and they seated us by the door but we asked to move and they were very accommodating.
I have read many of the reviews here on Google and must shake my head at some of what has been said. Yes they do offer an all you can eat menu, but please, there is a real difference between all you can eat, and all you can gorge your self. I have read people complaining about items requested not getting delivered. They hand you a page of paper with all the items on it and you check off what you'd like. If you fill the whole page and request a whole slew of items, then sure, things can get missed as your not the only person eating there. Why not try selecting fewer items at a time. Order what you plan on reasonably eating. Sushi comes with rice, and I get sometimes it falls apart, especially if your not the best at chopsticks. But picking the fish off and leaving piles of rice isn't right. If you need a fork then ask for one. The selection of food they offer is impressive. I can't say I've tried everything, but I can't say that anything that I have had wasn't top notch. I love the Dragon Rolls.
Every time I have been they have been extremely polite. and I keep going back as I do love the quality of the food and the...
Read moreI don’t even know where to start. Let’s get the positive out of the way, we came in, nice setting, clean atmosphere and the lady ( I assume the owner) was nice and polite. After receiving our first round of sushi, it looked nice. But as soon as you eat it, the rice was over cooked, the rolls themselves were falling apart and it had zero taste. This has never happened before but I usually never ever finish wasabi in a sitting, in order to get a taste we loaded our sushi up with it, mind you even the wasabi was bland you had to use a lot more to even get a burn. My girlfriend had some of the seafood sushi and I could tell by the look in her eyes that she wasn’t thrilled. It was punishment to even finish it. I feel absolutely terrible for even bringing her here. The tempura was bland. Couldn’t even taste anything, the only thing that was even good was the Coca Cola and the spring rolls. The other thing that’s almost impossible to screw up was the Edamame! After looking at the menu again, I couldn’t help but noticed it said Chinese and Thai cuisine. So it’s a safe bet to say they aren’t Japanese. So, please, stick to the Chinese food and stay away from Japanese, it’s an insult to their food. I actually feel terrible for spending 54$ for that meal.
Everyone, if you want to stick with good sushi, stick with Yame or August 8. You pay a bit more but there’s...
