The Tipsy Fox Pub & Grill - Oakville — Restaurant in Oakville

After seeing great reviews online and hearing recommendations from local groups, we decided to visit The Tipsy Fox to celebrate my son’s swim meet. I reserved a table for three adults and three children at 6 PM. We arrived on time and were seated by 6:10. The restaurant was busy, as expected, and we placed our orders right away, anticipating some delays since it was a Saturday evening and a new restaurant.

Our food arrived at 6:45. The fish and chips were good, but the nachos were terrible. The kids liked their pasta.

At 7 PM—just 15 minutes after our food arrived—a staff member told us they had another reservation and needed us to leave. We were still eating and waiting for the kids’ dessert, which was part of their meal. They brought it out at 7:05 and again asked us to leave. This was ridiculous, as we had only been seated for an hour. When I made the reservation, no one mentioned a time limit, and other diners who arrived before us were still there. They apologized and offered a 25% discount, but that didn’t fix the issue.

Here’s my problem with this:

Customers should be informed of time limits when booking.

If food takes 45 minutes to arrive, the burden isn’t on the customer to eat faster.

If the goal is to prioritize alcohol sales over families with kids, be transparent (our table did order three drinks).

Singling out the last-seated table while others remain raises questions—were we being profiled? Ironically, much of the staff was brown themselves.

With so many places offering similar food and drinks, service is key. They failed here.

Second time coming to this pub. I was going to hold off for a third visit so I could get a broader sense of the menu, but I have to weigh in at this point.

First off, the service is impeccable, even on St. Paddy's Day, it was 5/5. The place was packed to the rafters and our server, Ryan, never missed a beat. From timing to accuracy, he nailed it.

The food on my first visit was spot on. I ordered the liver and onions, a fav old-school pub dish that is easy to mess up. It was perfectly cooked, an ample portion, and the gravy was spot on.

St. Paddy's Day started with wings and appies. All were great, and again, Ryan nailed the order. Between courses, the drinks were delivered on time and there was no second guessing as to who ordered what.

For the main dishes, I had the Foxy smash burger and added bacon and an egg (off menu). No question about the egg and the burger was absolutely excellent. The secret sauce was delicious, though I could have used a touch more. I ordered the onion rings with it and even those were spot on. I hate onion rings where the first bite pulls out the whole onion and then you're left with just batter. That was not the case with these, not even with one of them.

So far two excellent dining experiences on nights when the place was packed. I'm looking forward to the next visit and I do hope we get Ryan again as a server as this kid...

I convinced my family to go to dinner this evening at the Tipsy Fox and it was a horrible experience we were placed in a room our reservation was for 6 nobody came for over 20 minutes till my son went out to find someone assigned to our table 3 of us ordered the Friday special wings and ribs the wings were do small and fried so much I couldn’t eat them they were like eating freeze dried the wings literally had no meat it crumbled when you bit into one, when the waitress came I showed her the wings and she agreed she called I guess a manager who said they were getting other complaints that the wings were small and the restaurant was having an issue with wings, the issue was they were over fried to the point of they were not eatable so he offered to replace them by the time I got the new wings my family had finished eating and the replaced wing were just as bad, I actually threw them out when I got home so heartfelt apologies I would not recommend this restaurant the food was well below standard we will not be hoping back at a minimum they should have given me the option replace the wings or remove from my bill that was not offered Will not ever go back poor service below...
