“I’ve lived in downtown Oakville for nearly thirteen years and love its welcoming, dog-friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately, I’ve had two negative encounters with the owner leaving me feeling unwelcome in a community I’ve called home for so long.
The first incident occurred during the summer when the restaurant extended its patio onto town property along the street. The owner yelled at me, claiming I wasn’t allowed to let my leashed dog go near the area, even though it’s public property owned by the town of Oakville. As any dog owner knows, it’s impossible to control a dog’s natural instinct to stop and mark in areas where other dogs frequently pass.
The second incident happened this evening as I walked my dog past the restaurant. My dog stopped briefly in front of the restaurant, near some Christmas garland displayed outside. Without any cause or provocation, the owner once again displayed unnecessary hostility, making me feel singled out for simply walking my dog in the neighborhood. He came charging out of his restaurant to see if my dog had marked this area when he didn’t do a thing . He then had had son watch to see if I was coming back . It might because I am South Asian . This is ridiculous.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I’ve been a customer of this restaurant before—though the owner likely doesn’t realize it. One negative interaction can have a lasting impact on how a business is perceived, especially in a dog-friendly community like downtown Oakville. In fact I watched from a distance to see another dog owner whose dog actually marked the garland . He didn’t come out .
I’ve also reached out to the Oakville BIA to notify them about this merchant’s behavior, as it does not reflect the welcoming and inclusive spirit of our community. I hope the owner takes this feedback seriously and reflects on how such behavior toward residents—especially those with pets—affects their reputation. After all, how can anyone justify being unkind to a little dog just enjoying a walk?”
Do you treat all the dog owners that walk their dogs like this ? Or just women ! It baffles me especially in this community! Put a sign out no dogs allowed if it is...
Read moreLet me start off by saying that we have ordered food from here several times and it has always been great. Even this time, the food itself was fantastic but the service left quite a lot to be desired. I even gave them a second chance by calling back when I got home, but they made no effort to make things right - Even suggesting that I got a deal by paying an upcharge for something that I did not receive.
We wanted pizza and decided on Pizzeria 4 Stelle. Ordered through Uber Eats for pick up instead of calling it in as there was a buy one get one free promo. This part is important.
Ordered on the app and paid extra to upsize one of the Margherita pizzas to an 18 inch. The 12 inch (small) would be the free one. Also ordered an 18 inch Hawaiian at full price. Arrived at the restaurant and received 2 small boxes and one large. Inquired on why both Margheritas were small and was advised it was because I ordered the bogo promo through Uber and it's for a small. I pointed out that I paid extra to upsize to a large and was told that it's an "Uber glitch". I figured it's been a long day, and maybe I made a mistake in my ordered. Took my order and left.
When I arrived home, I double checked my bill to make sure that I did indeed pay extra to upsize one of my Margheritas to a large. Confirmed that I did. Decided to call back to explain the situation and hope that they would make things right. Called back to explain what had happened, but was just told that it's a promo and an issue with Uber. Was then told that I got one pizza for $24 and then the second for $9. I advised them that the promo was for buy one get one free, not buy one get one for $9. I was then told maybe Uber changed the promotion and they had no control over it. The promo did not change, I checked again and it was still buy one get one free. Throughout the entire time, the team member was pointing fingers at the system, Uber, and again, even to me, suggesting that I should have been happy with receiving a small pizza for $9. Ultimately they said nothing could be done so I asked if I should just file a dispute with Uber to which he responded yes, go ahead. Less than desirable outcome from...
Read moreUPDATE after seeing business owner response:
I didn’t want to get into detail, but after seeing your unprofessional and “threatening” response, the public needs to know what happened.
My wife and I had a highly disappointing experience at Pizzeria 4 Stelle. We were initially optimistic about dining there, but unfortunately, the poor customer service and discriminatory behavior we encountered left us deeply dissatisfied.
Upon arriving, we noticed that the waiter seemed disinterested and displayed a lack of professionalism. We requested a stool for our baby, which was denied with the explanation that it was not meant for outdoor purposes. However, our disappointment escalated when we observed a different family, who arrived after us, being promptly provided with a stool outside upon their request.
Feeling unfairly treated, my wife expressed her concern by calmly approaching the manager. Instead of addressing the issue with empathy and understanding, the manager chose to escalate the situation. To our shock, he not only sided with the waitstaff but also used offensive language, telling my wife to "f off."
This incident raises serious concerns about discrimination and racism, as my wife wears a hijab. It is deeply unsettling to think that such prejudice may have influenced our treatment at Pizzeria 4 Stelle.
Furthermore, I would like to address the manager's threat to involve a lawyer. We find it disheartening that instead of attempting to resolve the matter, this threat was used as an intimidation tactic. We will be ready and patiently waiting to hear from your lawyer.
We had hoped for a pleasant dining experience but were met with unprofessionalism, discrimination, and an overall hostile environment.
Pizzeria 4 Stelle, your actions have left us deeply disappointed and disillusioned. We strongly advise others to consider their options before choosing to dine at your...
