From the moment we walked through the doors of The Keg – Oakville, the tone was set for an exceptional evening. The reception staff welcomed us with genuine warmth, offering friendly smiles and excellent eye contact that immediately made us feel at ease. With our reservations in place, we were seated promptly with zero wait time—a seamless and professional start.
The dining area is stunning: grand in scale with a moody, elegant, and stately ambiance. Our booth seating provided a perfect combination of comfort and privacy, ideal for an intimate dinner experience.
Our server, Samuel, was a standout from start to finish. He delivered warm, friendly, and professional hospitality with effortless grace. He gave us time to review the drink menu and thoughtfully paced our service, all while keeping an eye on our complimentary ciabatta-style loaf and creamy garlic butter, which was fresh, warm, and delicious.
Our cocktails were a highlight—my Negroni was perfectly poured, balanced, and smooth, while my daughter’s Spicy Margarita packed a flavorful punch with just the right amount of heat.
Despite arriving during the dinner rush, the back-of-the-house Team didn’t miss a beat. Our bacon-wrapped scallop appetizer was a standout! Served piping hot, with scallops that were delicately tender and bacon perfectly crisp—such a satisfying contrast in texture. Truly a perfect mouthfeel combination!
For our mains, we both ordered the medium-rare sirloin steak with lobster tail, and the kitchen delivered on every level. The steak was flawlessly cooked—tender, juicy, and full of flavor—while the lobster tail was delicate, buttery, and beautifully prepared. Every element of the dish, from presentation to temperature, was impeccable. Kudos to the grill masters for a job masterfully executed!
Throughout our meal, Samuel remained attentive but never intrusive, checking in politely and allowing us the space to enjoy our evening while feeling well cared for. A special shoutout to Robert, who seamlessly supported Samuel during the busy dinner service and ensured our main dishes were delivered promptly and presented beautifully.
What truly elevated the experience was the clear teamwork and care from the staff. Samuel’s attention to detail and thoughtful service made us feel genuinely welcome, and the collaborative effort between team members was evident and appreciated.
We left thoroughly impressed—not only by the quality of the food and drinks, but by the outstanding service and inviting ambiance. We will absolutely return and look forward to another memorable visit. If you’re looking for a consistently elevated dining experience in Oakville, The Keg is...
Read moreUnfortunately we did not have a good experience this afternoon. We received a gift card from a friend and decided to have dinner for my husband's birthday after not visiting the restaurant chain for quite some time. We are first time parents, both working full time and it's tough to get some time alone with eachother so we thoght this would be a great chance for us to do so. From the start our waitress was constantly hovering around us making us uncomfortable and unable to have a nice intimate experience. I understand checking in here and there, but it was getting out of hand being constantly disrupted while trying to enjoy an afternoon out. We had the calamari to start which was okay, however the dinner was another story. My husband and I both ordered the striploin Oscar, medium rare. Mine was fine, however his was so rare to the point where he couldn't even cut into it. When he had mentioned it to the server, she gave him a dirty look and proceeded to rudely say "oh okay so you like yours more medium then, I'll have them cook it longer". No apology, no remorse whatsoever. By the time his dish had come out, I was already finished mine. The entire experience was ruined and we couldn't even enjoy a dinner together. Didn't even bring out a new steak, just tossed a couple of shrimp on top of the previous steak. I'm not sure how mine was fine and his was a different temperature given we had both ordered the exact same dish. The server came back to collect our dishes and I immediately asked for the bill as we both wanted to leave promptly after our horrible experience. It did not end there though. She came to me with the bill and said that since we were in a rush she can pack a slice of cake for us to go, however it is ice cream cake. Who would offer an ice cream dessert to go? I accepted the dessert even though it just further inconvenienced us as it needed to be eaten right away or placed in the freezer so that it wouldn't spoil. She then came around with the machine and saw we had a gift card. She said the tip portion is the first prompt so the gift card would be used towards that. I didn't want to tip her at all, but I was generous enough to give her 10%. Once the payment went through, she slapped the receipt onto the table and walked away without a word. No apology, no thank you, nothing. I was hoenstly speechless! We will definitely not be dining with...
Read moreEasily one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had at The Keg. Came here to celebrate my birthday with my family — and frankly, I wish we hadn’t.
From the moment we sat down, it was clear the service was going to be a disaster. Our server was completely uninterested in providing even a basic dining experience.
Our server clearly couldn’t be bothered. She stumbled through basic tasks like bringing the correct number of wine glasses, couldn’t remember who ordered what, and treated the table like an inconvenience. It got even worse when she and the manager — yes, the manager struggled to hold hot plates/pass them to guest. If you can’t hold the plate, wouldn’t it make sense to shift the food onto another plate that would be easy for a guest to grab and hold? It was a masterclass in laziness and a total lack of training. Watching them struggle was almost comical, common sense was not available to both apparently.
The appetizers (calamari and wings) were bland and under-seasoned — no effort, no flavor. Then came the mains: every other plate was wrong. Steaks served with the wrong sides, missing sauces, and the Sirloin Oscar missing half the actual dish (seafood missing because it was dropped when plating). When the mistake was pointed out, instead of fixing it immediately, it took 10 more minutes to arrive to the table. Baked potatoes were dry, overcooked, and genuinely unpleasant to eat. On top of that, the steaks themselves were a joke — tough cuts with none of the quality The Keg used to stand for. It’s painfully clear they’ve switched to cheaper suppliers. A shameful decline.
If there’s a bigger red flag, the manager in the grey suit, dancing like a clown on the expo line: congratulations on setting the tone. Instead of fooling around in the back, maybe try leading your team and delivering the experience your guests are paying for? For god sake my entire table caught the server and kitchen staff eating each others face off on the side of the guest facing bar???
This wasn’t just a bad night — it’s a sign of a restaurant that’s completely lost the plot. Avoid this location if you care about your money, your time, or...
