So, I recently went to A & W Canada and let me tell you, it was not the root beer float-filled experience I was hoping for. As an American, I was excited to try A & W's famous root beer, but I was disappointed to find out they don't serve root beer floats in Canada. Major bummer, man.
But it wasn't just the lack of root beer floats that put a damper on my visit. I was also looking forward to trying their cheese curds, but apparently, they only serve them in poutine. I mean, come on, A & W Canada, let a girl get her cheese curd fix without having to order a whole meal!
To make matters worse, we ordered a regular root beer and a diet root beer, but were given two diet root beers instead. And to add insult to injury, one of us has a dietary restriction against diet beverages. We even repeated ourselves a few times, but alas, it seemed like the message didn't get through.
Don't get me wrong, the staff was nice, but they seemed a bit unaware when asked for something that needed to be adjusted or customized due to dietary needs or personal preferences. It's frustrating how rigid places can be, even if we're willing to pay for it.
Overall, I left feeling pretty disappointed by my A & W Canada experience. Maybe I'll just have to stick to the root beer floats and individually served cheese curds back...
Read moreThe beyond the meat burger is great... But don't rely on their staff to inform you if there is any meat on another style of burger when you replace the patty with a plant based one. It seems like common sense, "I see you are getting a plant based patty on the Mozza burger, this burger comes with bacon as well. Would you still like the bacon?" No the short, ghetto and buck tooth employee did no such thing. This employmee shouldn't be allowed to serve customers, zero emphathy and just stares at you with this dumbfounded and baffled expression... she just stared at me like I was suppose to know there was bacon on the burger... I am not the employee... it isn't my job to know what's on each burger. I trust that the employee would know their menu and advise a paying customer. I suggest not replacing any other style of burger especially if you are a vegetarian. I was also very disappointed in how this employmee handled the situation... Asking me if I would like the burger remade after eating 1/3 of it with bacon. Very disappointed especially with the lack of knowledge this employmee had of their menu... definitely an employee that should just clean the toilets and garbages and not talk to...
Read moreI used to come to this location all the time cause the staff was great and my order was perfect. About a month ago I noticed all the regular staff was gone. Since the change, every single order I've made has been a disaster. I've had to return each and every one. It's so bad now that I will not be returning. I can forsee others doing the same.
Old Review before staff change:
I have special dietary needs and finding a fast food place with good food that can feed my needs is often difficult. Most places offer mediocre options with even less when it comes to customer service or meal prep.
This place is the exception. The food is great. The staff is pleasant and I purposely drive out to this specific location cause the staff (Ashley) not only remember my dietary needs, but makes it correctly without fail every time. I love this place and I love A&Ws quality food. I'm glad they have alternative options that won't break the bank and still provides real meal. My only wish is this chain have salads as an option for sides instead of fries etc.
Thank you for exceptional service and an...
