Worst. Czech. Food. Ever. Where do I start- my wife is Czech, I have been to Czech numerous times and I have no idea what this is but they are not serving anything near decent Czech cuisine. To start off, the draft beer was just below room temperature, which I know being from Germany we are not serving ice cold beer like we do here but this was barely cold. We ordered pasta with tomato sauce for our daughter and a side of fries, she liked both but the pasta arrived cold at the table. My wife ordered grilled salmon, it arrived with PLAIN white rice and pickled vegetables. The salmon is advertised as being grilled, it's was definitely previously frozen and heated up in the microwave. I had the pork schnitzel, not horrible but not great. The crowning touch was when we decided to get dessert, they had on their chalkboard apple strudel and blueberry streusel. We asked for a portions of each but were told by the server that even though they had the streusel up on the chalkboards they haven't had it all summer. On their CHALKBOARD. I have no idea why you would not remove this from the board. Anyway. Strudel arrives, it's been microwaved to nuclear temperature and once we were able to actually eat it it was obviously made with canned apples and the crust was almost impossible to cut with a fork. I don't know what this place is trying to accomplish, but all I can say is all of the Czech Republic is crying right now. And I was actually looking forward to coming...
Read moreCan here with family. 8 people in total (4 kids and 4 adults). The atmosphere is cute and homely and the server was pleasant, attentive and polite. The food did take a bit to make but that was expected based on the kitchen size and one cook on, maybe two. The prices are astronomical and unreasonable for the portion size. Originally I wanted the pierogies but decided against it when the server told me that you only get 4 pieces for $18.00 + taxes. How can anyone justify a pierogi for $4.50 + tax, each?! I ended up going with the clubhouse which was ok but I have had better, chicken was ice cold. Each meal we got came with side of fries and that is pushing it as the kids chicken fingers gives you 2 strips and 10 fries (counted) for $14.00. I will say that one party member had the bacon cheeseburger and they absolutely loved it and the BLT. Overall, bill came to $220.00 for 8 people and only 2 of the 8 were satisfied and all 8 said portions were lacking. This is unfortunate as the place was really nice and has so much potential but this place is not really a Canadian restaurant as the name suggests. I’m sure the specialty dishes (Czechoslovakian) are delicious but not so good on the traditional pub or Canadian cuisine. For the $220.00 total working out to $27.50 each on average, there should have been more...
Read moreFirst of all, anyone who has given this place a bad review, needs to get their taste buds checked, SERIOUSLY. This place is WAY under rated. Went there with my wife this past Saturday evening, traveling from Ottawa for one night out of town just the two of us. We shared the Pilsen Goulash and the Rahm Schnitzel, I happen to be a die hard fan of Schnitzel, and this was by a long shot, the very best Schnitzel I have ever had. Served with a beautiful mushroom sauce, I asked for the roasted potatoes but accidently got the Spätzle, this was not an issue at all (because it was so well prepared) and I didn't even mentioned it to them as the food was of superior quality, the Goulash was absolutely delicious, the beef was fork tender and the sauce was nothing short of decadent, not to mention the fluffy bread dumpling, which my wife is still trying to process, could not believe how well it paired with the Goulash. Service was very friendly (young fellow who served us was well mannered and courteous) and I DEFINATELY recommend to anyone. Compliments to the chef, we are going back for the upcoming labor...
