I had the absolute pleasure of dining at VIP Chinese Restaurant recently, and I can’t stop raving about how spectacular everything was — from the food to the ambiance — but especially the service, thanks to Harry.
From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. Harry greeted me with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm, which immediately set the tone. Throughout the evening, he was attentive without being intrusive — always ready with a recommendation, refilling drinks promptly, and checking in to make sure each dish was just how we wanted it.
Speaking of the food — it was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly prepared with care and quality ingredients. I could tell the kitchen takes pride in what they do, and Harry’s attention to every detail enhanced the whole experience.
But what really made the night unforgettable was Harry’s professionalism, kindness, and passion. He made us feel like valued guests, not just customers. He went above and beyond, matching pace to our conversation, anticipating needs before we even asked, and genuinely caring that we had a great time.
In short: everything was excellent, and Harry played a major role in that. If you see him at the restaurant, make sure to give him a huge tip. You're looking for a restaurant that pairs excellent food with outstanding, personalized service, VIP Chinese Restaurant is a must-visit. And if Harry is working — you’ll be in...
Read morePrefaced by saying VIP used to be our go too place. I am angry!. We bought a dinner for 6. It was going to be a few busy days so this would take care of dinner for 3 days. Almost 90. Get home 2 pad thai were ordered, did not look like or taste like any pad thai I've ever had. We called they said they changed the recipe a week ago (we ordered 2 weeks ago and it was good). There was no sauce. They will replace them so we drive from Amherstview to downtown Kingston ...again...to get the new ones which were slightly different but the same and all is so nasty. Ordered a General Tao and again the 2 weeks between orders seems to change the dish. No sauce just fried chicken. Chicken Balls so overcooked they were hard like jerky and the sweet and sour sauce was the consistency of water. The rice was also not great and looked like they threw leftovers in a bowl and mixed it up. I actually found what looked like ground beef in my pad thai. I took a bunch of photos but can't post here for some reason. So 90 bucks and we heated some for dinner tonight and it's inedible. What a waste of money. Never again. My daughter ordered a different place and hers looks so good lol Photos are the rice, Pad Thai...

Seems like everything was made from scratch. I had the soy beans and pork feet soup, and double cooked sliced pork dressed rice to go with it. The soup was a rare to find dish around this part of Ontario. It's excellent. Soup was tasty, full of flavor and the pork had the right texture and flavors. So food wise the chefs knew what they were doing.
Definitely will come back for the food.
However, they did have problems. The poor girl who was in trial for server position got several orders wrong and everything went to chaos. They certainly need better experienced servers. Or just provide a better training? And they still haven't gotten any prints of menu. I was told to check on dishes provided on a delivery app. I didn't have that on my phone and I wouldn't install any delivery app because of my bad experience with all of them. Anyway, there's a blackboard on the wall from the previous owner, why not utilize that?
Hopefully they would get over the minor issues with a newly established restaurant and provide a fine dine in experience...
