Eggsmart — Restaurant in Oshawa

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, NEVER GOING BACK.

We had ordered two of the Eggs benedict meals, eggs were overcooked, Hollandaise sauce was bland, got charged an extra $1 for French fries (when it comes with the side of potatoes, no other restaurants charge for French fries instead of home), the eggs benedict is advertised to have parsley on top and come with a decent amount of fruit....we were given one small piece of watermelon.

The server was standoffish. I asked about the fruit and she said "it's the only fruit that's in season and what we give changes based on that"...what a terrible excuse. You can go to Coco frutti or Coras or even Stacked, they GIVE the fruit as advertised unlike here. Had to ask for the parsley for the top of the egg which was ridiculous. The server seemed to not only be standoffish but also in a rush, when we were asking for condiments or when the order was placed she seemed to have to go before we even finished our sentence.

Very awkward dining experience. Can't believe after spending over $30 on two meals that it A) didn't come with everything it should have. B) The service was TERRIBLE, "Bottomless coffee" and yet, weren't asked even ONCE if we wanted a refill. And the server had an attitude C) The food was mediocre AT BEST (for what we did receive).

So many better options elsewhere, even locally. You will get what you pay for at Coco frutti or Stacked if you are looking for something comparable. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

(Note: To be fair, I have been to other eggsmart locations, like Whitby north and south, a better experience than here for sure, the experience was an entire 180. So if you really need your eggsmart fix, to to one of those locations and AVOID...

We went for breakfast on Mother’s Day and knew it might be busy, but the dining room was at maybe 75% capacity so we assumed it wouldn’t be too long of a wait. We were seated relatively quickly given our party size of six, and our drink orders were taken and filled within a reasonable time. However it took an hour to get our food, my husband who is a Type 1 diabetic had his food completely forgotten and was only served after multiple requests to get his meal as he’d taken his insulin when two of our party had received their meals - well before the rest of us. His potatoes were stone cold. One of us had ordered a waffle and were told they couldn’t make it so she got pancakes instead, which were taken off the bill… the cheapest item, while my husband was slowly getting weaker and weaker and not getting served. He was given food after the rest of us had finished. Most of the people in the restaurant seemed to be having similar issues to us, and the takeout drivers continued piling in and getting their food. The kitchen was an absolute disaster and it seemed most of the waitstaff was trying their best, although I’m almost certain our waitress forgot to order my husband’s meal which is why he had to wait so long. Several of us were sick in the afternoon so I’m not convinced the food was 100% safe either. My plate had remnants of past food on it which had no relation to the chocolate chip pancakes I’d ordered. My boyfriend an I came in for brunch an we got there about 2:50ish so we’ll say it was close to 3pm. I always check the hours online when I go anywhere cause I’ve worked in retail an food an I know how annoying it is for people to come in last minute. Online it showed this place was open till 4pm on the weekend. Even online when you look up eggsmart an go to the hours it shows the business confirmed 9 weeks ago these hours were correct. We walk in an they tell us they were closed. I even said well online it shows you guys are open till 4pm but apparently they have been closing at 3pm. As my boyfriend an I are about to leave he shows me the store hours posted on the door an that it also says 4pm. The whole time I’m trying to tell the lady that was working that online an on the door it shows 4pm as the closing time. It seemed like she didn’t really believe me an even walked outside so I can show her the hours posted on the door. I told her this was unacceptable and that maybe should remove the store hours on the door if they’re not right. My boyfriend an I have never once visited this location an we will not be back again.
