Good sushi. Excellent service.
I've been wanting to try the "new" (to me) sushi place in the old Scott's Chicken Village building, where my partner and I used to go for Portuguese churrasco back at the turn of the century. :)
For takeout, we had a small sashimi plate and a roll party tray, as well as some unagi (eel) nigiri-zushi. It was all very well-made, and quite fresh.
The rolls we had were very veg-dominant, with a great deal of cucumber, etc., and a rose sauce. I'm glad we ordered sashimi as well, because I really like the taste of fresh raw fish. Next time, I will probably order different sushi to sample more.
While we were waiting for our order, in the sparse but clean dining area, they gave us very tasty green tea (tasted like genmaicha) as well as a free order of "dragon eye" rolls.
The only glitch was that they accidentally only gave us two servings of wasabi & pickled ginger, even though we ordered for three people (and there were 3 sets of chopsticks in the bag). Not a big deal, but might be worth double-checking if you're getting takeout or delivery and love these condiments.
We'll...

The service was horrible. We waited over 10 minutes before our server came to our table, we ordered, waited another 30 minutes for 3 things. We ordered a coke and iced coffee, they brought the coke at the same time as the food (30 minutes later). I cancelled my coffee because they hadn’t even started it yet.
They brought my partners general tao, and 10 minutes later, brought out my roll and tokoyaki. When they brought out my food, they didn’t bring any chopsticks/ utensils. I asked for some, and it took so long I had to get up and go grab it myself, because the waitress was serving other people.
The food, appearance-wise, is not as advertised on the menu.
The general tao chicken tasted like musty towel.
The spicy crispy tuna roll looked and tasted unappetizing. The tuna itself had this weird spongy coating on it. Truly the worst roll I’ve ever seen.
The tokoyaki tasted like a creamy grease ball.
I don’t know why this place is highly rated, or if we were just there on an off...
Read moreMy wife stopped by for the first time a few days ago. She brought home a platter and a 'small' roll. I was stunned by the quantity, the quality, and the size of that 'small' roll. It was not small at all, it was enormous and fresh! I'll go back there myself as soon as I can.
EDIT; so we DID go back, both of us this time. We tried a few other options than the previous takeout. Once again we were Not disappointed. There is nothing to pick on at all. The food was great, the menu not too complex. Obviously quality beats quantity, but their quantity for the price was still impressive. I guess the only mistake I could make would be to underestimate the sizes of the plates. Example, two cuts of sushi for $7 (6 pieces) and a side bowl of rice would be larger than any poke bowl I've seen anywhere. This means you eat a good portion of super fresh sushi plus side for about $20. This little place will become our go-to spot and we'll bring in friends. I dont even mind driving 30 minutes...
