Celebrating a Uni Grad night with daughter & friends at TATG that she booked in advance with the restaurant manager. TATG is a lovely setting for a warm early summer's evening party with great seating spaces that created a cosy environment and a fun vibe under the gazebos and hanging lanterns. There were lots of seating options available in the casual setting. The space set aside for our group was arranged much like a cocktail party setup for seating/standing and mixing. It was much like sitting on the neighbour's nicely decorated back deck/patio experience except there was a DJ. Our server, Jason, did a great job looking after our group bringing water first and then drink orders as people slowly filtered into the party. Food was good. My first try at Steak Tartare was successful although I felt it could have used just a bit of S&P in the blend and would have loved an extra swipe of the spicy side dip to see the tartare through. Baguette toasts were a bit chewy, but washed down with a nice Ripasso all was well. Shared my tartare with hubby and he shared his Fingerling & Bacon pizza with me. The pizzas were a huge hit with the group who also sampled the Margherita, a Pear & Brie and a Mushroom Medley. Everyone raved about the pizza crust. Despite a light crowd for a Friday evening the DJ caught our attention and we were getting that let's dance feeling with his great blend of music. We literally closed the place we so lost track of time as we enjoyed the party, the ambiance and an evening under the stars. Hope for a return trip soon!

I joined my friends at TATG for cocktails and food. The atmosphere is really good and cozy. Food was tasty - but a bit pricy. The sesame chicken salad is a 10/10. However, there's room for improvement when it comes to the service. Our waitress didn't give us a good impression. I waited 15min to order, then passed by our table saying she will be back in few minutes. We waited an additional 15min for her to send another server to take our order. The server mentioned she was "overwhelmed" but that doesn't excuse the fact we had to wait 30min just to order. I believe she is the manager (based on her attire). Her behaviour is unacceptable and therefore made our experience at TAGT very horrible. The rest of the servers were very friendly and helpful. Obviously, we also had to wait for the bills. In general, TAGT is a great spot if you don't mind waiting 15 - 30 min for to place your order

Cool new spot in Ottawa to have a cold beer and good pizza at Tavern At The Gallery!! It’s located right in the court yard of the National Gallery of Canada which is hard to find if you are not a local because it’s kind of hidden. We both loved the place except the fact that they always put you on a 20 mins waiting list even if they are tons free tables right in front of you... other than that the place is realy cozy and full of plants and trees plus great music selection all night long! They even close at 2am which is really awesome if you want to enjoy more time with friends or your better half :) And the @blendedberries recommendation is the Mangos on the Run IPA from Innis and Gunn beer @innisandgunn !! It was really tasty! We are huge fans of them and love all of their beers! You should definately go there and try some!!

Critical and Useful Review You are coming here for the vibes, not the food.

Let’s start with the positives. Location and Atmosphere: the location is beautiful. It features an “enclosed” outdoor space with trees, a variety of seating options (tables, lounge chairs/couches, high top tables), and some games like corn hole. quiet and calm, definitely a relaxing feel because it is outside, dogs are allowed on leash which for me is a positive they have lots of umbrellas, heat lamps and canopies to ensure your dining experience is comfortable definitely a drinks and apps vibe Overall score for atmosphere: 4.6/5

Service: staff was attentive, polite, quick and easy going provided our dog with a dog bowl of water and some pepperonis as a treat which was very kind cleared the table quickly and made the overall dining experience enjoyable Overall Service Score: 4/5

Now the food: most importantly, this is not “from scratch” food, it is mainly processed food with some real food mixed in we ordered tuna tartare, Margherita pizza and tacos trio. The tuna and avocado was nicely balanced, but the Italian style crostini’s were like the ones you get from Costco, and didn’t really fit the dish. Fried wontons may have been a better fit. The Margherita pizza I would equate to frozen boxed pizza where they added some basil on top. And the tacos were like the ones you get at the VIP movie theatre. taste was good, but you certainly aren’t paying for high quality food with that said, they should really come down on the prices of the food as our bill with drinks (one alcoholic, one non-alcoholic) came to $100. I would argue this food should have only been around $50 max. Overall Food...

Probably the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had! From the start, the service was painfully slow. After a long wait, we finally placed our order, but no one ever came back to check on us and still no drinks! I had to get up myself to ask a question, and only then did the server mention that my drink would cost extra because they were apparently out of the tequila, so they wanted me to pay extra for another tequila brand. I changed to another option, but was then told (again) they didn’t even have spiced rum. In the end, we waited over 45 minutes just for three draft drinks and a beer. We only got our food because I insisted, otherwise, I’m not sure we would have been served at all. To make it worse, the drinks arrived after the food (and my order was incorrect, but at this point, i didn’t care!)

At some point, our server even handed us off to a colleague because she “had no more answers” for all the bad things going on. The new server showed up with a terrible attitude. When I asked her directly if she was giving us attitude, because she was, her reply was: “It must be my Ukrainian accent.” Completely unprofessional and inappropriate.

And to top it all off, there wasn’t even hand-soap in the washroom to wash our hands, completely unsanitary.

I honestly felt embarrassed for bringing my friends here. Terrible service, zero professionalism, questionable hygiene… I wouldn’t recommend this...
