A new restaurant so I gave it a few days from my first visit to try again. First of all VERY pricey for small town Penticton. I live in Toronto and expect those prices there, but this is something to be aware of. Cocktails are $17 for a tall glass filled with ice, it’s giving scam. Best to probably drink during happy hour. My grandmothers steak was filled with fat and overcooked. We did however get a free desert because of that, but be warned they are incredibly sweet. We couldn’t really stomach it. Service was okay but slow, and we never were asked for refills on our sodas. We went for breakfast 2 days later, I believe our servers name was Jake? He was the only staff at 8:45am and looked to be run off his feet. It is expected to be chintzy with having staff on due to a new restaurant, but he was great all things considered. Breakfast was ok, the Benedict sauce was very vinegary. Their weekday breakfast menu is small, but the early bird pricing makes up for it if you can find something you enjoy. All in all it’s good to see new restaurants in town, but if you are claiming to be a steakhouse I’d love to see some better cuts of meat for the price you are charging for the steaks. Probably best to visit during happy hour or one of their other deals. Hopefully will be back in the future to have a better experience once they are more established.

We’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, especially the rooftop patio, but heard some bad reviews when it first opened so gave it some time. We started on the rooftop with drinks and appys and the view/atmosphere was as nice as we were hoping. I personally thought the drinks were expensive for what they are, but I think what you’re really paying for is the atmosphere. There is a different menu for the rooftop than for the dining area so we went down to the restaurant for dinner. The atmosphere here was okay, I’d agree with another review that said it’s a little cafeteria-like, but does have a modern steakhouse decor and style. The only real problem was that both steaks were cooked rare when they were ordered medium, they tried to rectify it by reheating them, but they just came back more charred on the outside. I had salmon that was cooked perfectly and nicely plated but otherwise forgettable and the one other dish at the table was the chicken and that dish got a 10/10 and devoured. So out of the 4 meals I would say 1.5/4. We definitely won’t be trying the steak again but might try some pizzas on the rooftop if I can swallow the price of the drinks 😅

I was in Penticton for a couple of days on my way home from a trip to Edmonton. I reached out to my niece to meet for dinner while I was in town and she recommended Palmer. I happened to be staying next door at the Hotel Penticton so this was super convenient. Their menu has a good variety without being overwhelming. There’s bound to be something to appeal to everyone. My niece ordered the Miso Glazed Salmon and I had the Chicken Presse. Both meals were very tasty and decent portions. Our server was very attentive and when I mentioned that my Guinness was quite flat, she brought me a different drink and even comp’d the drink as well as remove the stale drink. After our meal, our server listed off some dessert options and we selected their Turtle Cheesecake which is both gluten free and dairy free (my niece has dietary restrictions) and it was surprisingly tasty. The coconut whip “cream” was a nice touch. I will be trying Palmer for breakfast before I leave and see if a steakhouse is capable of doing breakfast.

We came here with a group of friends , super hungry! The place itself looks really nice inside and we were greeted right away. Good service and friendly staff. Our table ordered lasagna, chicken presse , salmon and tenderloin steak. Well … I don’t think any of my friends were super impressed with the food . Lasagna was okay no better than store bought and oven cooked. Chicken presse had no flavour , tasted very bland , also super small portion for dinner size . Salmon had a nice sauce on the dish , mashed potatoes were also fine that’s what was ordered to substitute potato scallion rosti but the salmon itself tasted overcooked and not tender at all. Now the steak … once it was cut it looked pretty much fully brown and super dry (ordered medium rare). Now if you’re paying 52$ for a steak that’s not what you want to eat so we let the server know. The response is what didn’t really make sense , she gave us the option to either order something else from the menu , not charge for the meal OR throw another steak on the grill but she can’t promise it’ll turn out good this time either so there is no guarantee. I’m sorry , WHAT? You can’t guarantee/promise a medium rare steak to a guest at a steakhouse??????? Then another server came and reassured us he will make another steak and he will cook it himself and make sure it is medium rare. By then everyone else ate their dinner and we had to wait another 15 minutes for the steak to arrive. The meal was very hot and fresh , the steak however this time was more on a rare side but at least it was somewhat more juicy and edible . The restaurant did not charge for the steak meal which honestly was expected and I’d be surprised if they did but we did not get to all enjoy our dinner and the food could be a lot better for the price being charged. It looks like a nice place and has a potential just really need to work on their...

Save your money. First and last experience. Ordered for pick up for date night at home and everything we had was absolutely disgusting. I’ve never been one to complain about poor dining experiences (even waited a full day before deciding to leave a review), but this was so horrible AND so expensive… If it wasn’t so pricy I probably wouldn’t have bothered with this review and just never go back, but I’m still thinking about how disgusting it was… So disappointed. Could have had a better meal at Denny’s across the street, which should be enough of a statement in itself. The only positive thing I can say is the person who took our order was nice, it was a good interaction. Our date night dinner was around $150 with the addition of a generous tip. Even though we ordered for pick up, we tipped as if we had in-house service (probably why people wait to tip AFTER their meal). Over $60 for a piece of steak smaller than my fist (definitely didn’t look like 8oz), pasta that was more mushy than the mashed potatoes, squash that was way over seasoned we couldn’t eat it, chili chicken with sauce that wasn’t far off from just flavoured water (had the consistency of literal water), beef sliders that were so dry the beef dip didn’t make a difference, all items portioned so small it was laughable given the price. The prawns were okay but definitely overcooked. Didn’t mind the green beans- they were a little burnt but they were by far the best thing we ate… next to the flavourless mashed potatoes. They call themselves a steakhouse…. the only part about them that could match a steakhouse description is their prices. NEVER...
