Very cold in the restaurant, didn’t take off my jacket. Smelled heavily of cleaning supplies. Was told a few things weren’t available on the menu after trying to order. Came for the dosas so we ordered spicy chicken dosas, beef curry dosas and a chicken curry with a long name that started with a V (not vindaloo). Heard the microwave go non stop, received our food, semi warm. The dosas were very big fresh made to order and large but not like the picture of a rolled up “burrito” looking meal so harder to eat but that was ok. The dosa tasted good, but it was mostly dosa not a lot of filling- but perhaps that’s normal. Everything else was semi warm, tasted of microwaved meat, chicken in the dosas were chewy and not a lot of it, mostly potato, beef was tiny chopped pieces of overcooked hard meat. Not the slow cooked fall apart beef we are used to at other local Indian food establishments. The curry was good but it was a small portion, it came with a homemade naan that wasn’t fully cooked and tasted of raw dough. Funny enough the beef curry and chicken curry didn’t say they were spicy and were spicier than the “spicy chicken” dosa. It has so much potential because a lot of flavours tasted ok but were not heated or old tasting with lazy skipped microwaved steps. That paired with uncooked dough are not cutting it. Perhaps a smaller menu would be better suited so more things were fresh, no need to rush and skip crucial steps! We tried to mention a few things to our waiter but there was a language barrier, he just nodded and said good good. Meanwhile a man in the back was on speaker phone and arguing with someone the entire time. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Won’t...
Read moreAmazing dosa! Penticton has a lot of good Indian food, but most of it is North Indian. So, I'm happy to see a place like this serving dosa and idly and other South Indian dishes. And, if you're vegetarian, there's no place more flavorful or more affordable to eat. Edit: love the Chicken 65 and Gobi 65 (cauliflower).
Another review mentioned ordering a masala dosa and that it was "wet", but they also ordered it to-go, and dosa will get soggy when it travels. I ordered masala dosa today and it was nice and crispy, of course, underneath the masal potatoes, the dosa was a bit soggy but that's normal. So, Just know what you're ordering and know how things travel well or not.
They also had some Indo-chinese fusion dishes that look good, and I'm looking forward to trying them when I return. Update: the fusion dishes are amazing. The schezwan egg noodles are a...
Read moreI was so excited to learn that we were getting a Dosa restaurant in Penticton and I wasn't disappointed when I went to it 💕. Prices are great and the team there were very friendly.
There's a big range of fillings available, and many options for gluten free and vegetarian diners. The dosas were crispy and the fillings.so flavourful. I love the soup that comes with each Dosa order. We went with a group of 6 and they did a good job trying to get the meals out at the same time, but the kitchen can probably only handle so many outgoing orders. I did go back another time for take out and while they were very tasty, I must say that the dosas are best had fresh and on site. Do yourself a favour and dine in for the...
