I recently had the pleasure of visiting Petrasek Bakery, and it’s an absolute gem that deserves to be on everyone’s must-visit list—whether you’re a tourist or a local. From the moment you step inside, you’re transported to a charming small-town Canadian coffee shop and bakery, where the warm, inviting atmosphere feels like a step back in time. I could easily imagine my grandparents stopping by to chat with neighbors, sharing stories, and enjoying the simple joys of life. That nostalgic, community-driven vibe is truly magical.

The best sourdough bread in town! Their "rustico" loaf is incredible, and I get at least one or two a week, just for myself. Warning: it goes FAST. I usually try to call and reserve a loaf when they open at 9am if I know that I can't get in before 11am. They usually can't slice the bread before 1:30pm (it's too fresh), so just be aware of that for your timing.

They have other types of bread as well, along with pastries and coffees, and one or two simple pre-made sandwiches (also delicous!)

If you're in the mood for coffee and a nosh, take a trip downtown. Heritage setting, featuring Old World baking at it's best. After you've stocked up on artisnal breads and pastries, sit down and enjoy an incredible selection of sweet or savory snacks, paired with the best coffee beverages in town.
