Great beer but the staff were absolutely awful. Friends dog passed away so we decided to meet them for a hug and a beer. They bought a 4 pack of beer and a yellow dog tank top an hour before we showed up. Our friend had a can of beer in her hand while she stood in line with us (the beer she bought the hour prior). So she's standing in line, red in the face from crying and wearing the yellow dog tank top when a staff member behind the bar came over and accused her of opening her can of beer while in line. Her partner explained that no they had purchased it earlier and they both apologized and put it in the trash. Then I heard the female staff and the male bar staff loudly complaining about how terrible it was that my friend couldn't wait to open her beer until she paid for it and left. I went to both staff members and explained that she had already purchased the beer and the shirt an hour earlier, (from those exact staff members). I apologized again to both staff members about the open can of beer. I completely understand the risk of losing a liquor licence and as soon as my friend knew she was in the wrong she tossed her beer. I explained to the staff that she was a bit "out of it" because her dog had just died. To my surprise the woman looked at me in disbelief and asked, "Really? When?" I said that he died just this morning. Then we all went outside and another woman claiming to be management came outside to speak with us. We assumed she was coming to apologize but in fact she wanted to check our friends receipt to ensure she paid for her beer. We were floored. What happened to courtesy? And hey what about having a little bit of common sense? Remember our friend is still wearing her newly purchased Yellow Dog tank top. This wasn't our first time to Yellow Dog but it was the last. The service left a poor taste in our mouths and the beer didn't...
Read moreMy family and I do an annual trip to the breweries for my brotherâs birthday and have been doing so since he turned 19. He is now 22 years old. Over the weekend, we came to the breweries as part of our tradition and my brother was turned away as he was updating his BC Drivers license and had a paper copy of it along with credit cards and school photo ID. This was not enough, and we were saddened to hear. I will be transparent here haha, my dad was trying to talk to one of the servers to get him to away his decision just because he wanted to his son to have a good time. I ended up going over and apologizing on his behalf and told server we understood and would comply. Before we left, another server came up to us to apologize and tell us that they would have served us no problĂšme and that they were sorry about that other guy. Everything was fine until we got to Moody Ales. We were harassed at Moody Ales. My brother, who did not even attempt to purchase anything there, was threatened to leave or show his ID or go sit with a parent. The staff at Moody Ales told us that an employee at Yellow Dog had gone into a group chat with the other breweries and told everyone on the block not to serve him. I think thatâs a little odd to be honest. I think that most of the breweries would have seen his ID and refused to allow it without that particular man going into a group chat and talking about my brother leading us to get harassed and falsely accused of illegal consumption of alcohol. Anyways, we ended up leaving the Yellow Dog, because their staff was just staring at us and peeking at us to make sure my brother was not drinking. He didnât drink after they didnât serve him so it made us quite...
Read moreWe had an amazing time at Yellow Dog Brewery, until we didn't, which put a damper on my fiancé's surprise 30th bday. My fiancé and I were arriving for 3:30PM so we had some friends arrive around 2-2:30PM to enjoy themselves and grab one of the longer tables as we were over 10 people. Everyone was buying drinks and continued to when we arrived. All of us were quiet / hanging out at our table. We were not loud or disrespectful to any other guests around us. One of my fiancé's friends was definitely targeted unfortunately by the Yellow Dog staff. He was denied a drink at the bar when he was absolutely fine and practically sober. This is where it all started. I grabbed myself a drink at the bar, and couldn't finish it, because I had to drive, so I gave it to our friend to finish. Shortly after one of the bar staff came up to us and said that he needs to leave and that we have all been there since 1:30pm (false), and we explained to them why everyone showed up early but they didn't care. So I asked if we could finish our drinks and then leave and he said yes. A few minutes later another lady, supposedly the manager, (extremely disrespectful by the way), was so rude and said he needed to leave and that her employee told us false information that we could finish our drinks. Really terrible communication on their part. All in all, if you want to come to this brewery and spend lot's of time, don't bother, you'll get kicked out. It is beyond me that our friend was cut off, he was completely fine, our group was quiet, and we were all buying drinks. It is not like we were sitting there drinking water and not giving them business. We...
