Very disappointing experience. Had visited this place the previous day, as one of our stops on our Quebec City food tour. The gazpacho seemed fine. We went there the next night for dinner. It was around 7:30PM. There were no tables available, so we agreed to take a reservation for four people for 8PM. Not a big deal. Plenty to see in this quaint little city. We returned at 8PM and were seated inside. Shortly thereafter, we placed our food order. While we were waiting for our food, my daughter accidentally spilled her drink. The waitress walked right by and watched as we wiped down the table and chairs with our napkins. Never helped or brought replacement napkins. Forget about offering to replace her drink. After a half hour of waiting ing for our food order, the waitress informed us it would only be a few minutes. After an hour, the food finally came. I ordered the seafood pasta. The pasta was way overcooked, like eating mush. My other daughter ordered spaghetti bolognese. Her pasta was way overcooked as well. During this whole time, the waitress never engaged in any conversation with us. While the the other waitstaff were very attentive to their tables, our waitress seemed to get lost or be bussing other tables. Once we were done eating our dinners, I immediately asked for the check. Normally, when on vacation with my family, I would ask the waitstaff to take a picture of us. We were all so disgusted and disappointed with the food and the service, we just wanted to leave this place. Definitely a tourist trap and I would not...

We liked it.

We needed a place for lunch and planned on eating at 1640 Bistro next door. We arrived at 11:30 and they were serving breakfast only and it would have been another hour to serve lunch.

We walked next door to La Buchette and they were serving both breakfast and lunch. Perfect!

We got seated at a 2-top outside right away. Our server came by with water and menus right away.

I ordered the French Onion Soup and my wife ordered the Breakfast Casserole.

The food came out real fast. Less than 10 minutes.

The presentation of my soup was unlike I’ve ever had. Two slices of bread with melted cheese were served on the side. I ended up placing one of them in my soup, then cutting it up.

The soup had a decent flavor but it was only served somewhat warm - not hot. Not worth sending back, especially after I’d added the bread slice to it. I ate it all none the less.

My wife’s casserole was large. The over medium eggs were perfectly done. The casserole ingredients were layered, so it was a bit of a dig to find it all. The flavors were good. If there was a con, it would be there was too much sausage and not enough bacon.

Service here was quite pleasant. We decided to order a coffee and soft drink after our meal to hang out here a bit longer before our bus tour started.

We’d come back to La Buchette. In fact, tomorrow night, we have reservations for La Buche, a fine dining dinner restaurant within the same...

We decided to book La Buchette for our final dinner in Quebec. La Buchette absolutely did not disappoint as a grand finale vacation meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and welcoming, the staff were very friendly, attentive, and conversational. Christopher was assisting us with our meal and was thorough with all of his descriptions of the foods and drinks we ordered. He and the rest of the staff took time to get to know us and make sure that everything we ordered was to our liking.

We ordered the lion’s mane mushrooms, the duck carpaccio, the bison tomahawk, and flambéed crepes for dessert. The dinner service was paced well and the presentations were beautiful. The mushrooms had an interestingly complex, savory flavor, the bison was cooked perfectly tender, there was no need for a serrated knife. The crepes were an experience in themselves, flambéed table side with maple ice cream on the side. The cocktails were creative and all had a little bit of local flair with the choice of ingredients.

I would absolutely recommend La Buchette to anyone looking to have a delicious and elevated dining experience with the local flavors of Quebec. If I lived in the area, I could easily see myself being a regular for a delightful...
