When you're looking for something a little more sophisticated, this is the place to dine. The decor is european minimalist and they've found a nice balance between cosy and spacious. A great place for a date or a small party of people with tables spaced such that there's only a quiet murmur - and the owners like it that way - it's a place where we remind to our students to always take note of the noise level in a restaurant when they enter and assume that's they way everyone in the restaurant wants it to stay. The menu is extensive, it's a delight for anyone looking to try some french dishes while having plenty of options for the more faint of heart - it's the place where most of our students try escargot for the first time (usually one or two brave souls order it, then the garlic aroma wafts down the table and more students want to try one) and instantly get hooked. Similarly many have their first fondue here, and they're never disappointed. If you've tried poutine (and you must try poutine if you're in Quebec) then you'll find the gravy's been kicked up a notch with pulled duck. The pasta and pizza dishes are the most popular with our students, who love to share with each other to get a taste of as many things on the menu as possible, and they're always delighted with their meals (the pasta dish with brie, mushrooms, and hazelnuts in a cream sauce always makes the cut). I've had a few of the entrées, and they're good, but I'd have to say that the appetizers, pasta and pizza are where this restaurant excels. I'd call it a french-styled italian restaurant. ...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews, but I felt it was important to share this experience. I visited this restaurant recently, hoping to enjoy a meal, but instead was met with blatant racial profiling, something I honestly never expected.
One of the staff members looked at me and said, completely unprompted, that I looked like Osama bin Laden. When I asked him to clarify, thinking maybe I misheard, he followed up with, “You must get that a lot,” as if that somehow made it okay.
I was shocked, deeply hurt, and honestly just stunned into silence. I completely lost my appetite after that and in all honest did not want to give my business to a place that employed such staff, I walked out. No one should ever have to deal with that kind of ignorance or cruelty, especially in a place that’s supposed to be welcoming to everyone.
I hope the management seriously reconsiders who they choose to represent their establishment. For now, I can’t in good conscience recommend this...
Read moreMy two sons and I stopped in for a few drinks and nachos and wings. It was last Sunday night around 9:30. We had a nice table out on the patio. It appeared fairly busy when we arrived, but it was soon down to only a few tables remaining, so quick attentive service should have been easy. Both water and plates that were promised by our waitress never came. We had to carefully balance chicken bones on the side of the platters. The nachos were delicious but very small given the fact that it was a double order and the price. The wings were delicious but very small. The calamari was good too, but again, very few offered on an over-sized plate. Our beers arrived fairly quickly, but only two of us received them. It took another fifteen minutes for our waitress to arrive with the remaining beer. Napkins were nowhere to be seen despite...
